I always liked LeMans even though it was before I was even born.
Grand Prix, with James Garner
It just came out on DVD, I cant wait to get it
Cannot think of one I really like but Grand Prix has some great shots, plus cameos by some of the great drivers of the era.
Le Mans for me (gotta go with McQueen) with It's a Mad Mad Mad Mad World coming in a close second.
Hands down winner: TWO LANE BLACKTOP starring Warren Oates, Dennis Wilson, James Taylor, 55 chevy, and a 1970 GTO.
Though not technically a racing movie, Thunder Road with Robert Mitchum is a killer flick with killer cars. Think Bullitt for the 1950s.
LeMans is the all time greatest racing movie.
I also like Breaking Away.
again not technically a racing movie, but the driver (1978, walter hill) is a classic. ryan o'neal is cool as fuck, isabelle adjani is sexy as fuck, and bruce dern sports a cool 'fro. all good.
My favorite of all time:
Remember the hot rod and the blonde in Dirty Mary, Crazy Larry? (if that's the right title?)
Days of Thunder was pretty good.
Another short film I`ve seen recently is c`est etait rendezvous shot in 1976...short, but it`s a masterpiece.
Grand Prix and Rendezvous.
just for yuks:
I'm looking forward to this one....
