I have found memories of Mara's (white pie w/ roasted peppers & Pepperoni) on Passyunk(?), and of course the (in)famous Taconnelli's in the NE

Center City, 18th and Walnut I think...

I wouldn't worry about the lines. There aren't that many tables, but they do now serve beer and wine and there's actually parking available.

I went about two weeks ago around 2-3pm and it was quiet. Talked to Vito, Tony, etc. about how the place was doing and they've told me that a majority of their customers are non-old regulars. Apparently they've done VERY well in the month or two that they've been open but are having trouble spreading the word to old customers about their new location. It was funny as hell to hear Vito talk about the pizza places around Hollywood/Los Feliz after he left. Glad to see him back.

Make SURE you talk to Vito. It's like meeting Tony Soprano. If you're looking to start a fight, tell him you eat @ Albano's. He told me this story of a customer from NJ coming into his place: "So this fuckin' guy comes in from Jersey and asks for a slice of my cheese pie. So he finishes it and says to me, 'Vito, there are three fuckin' things I don't like about your pie: I don't like the crust, don't like the sauce, and don't like the cheese.' So I fuckin' look at this guy and say, 'Well it's a fuckin' cheese pizza. What DO you like about it?'." Vito's setup is similar to Albano's in terms of having several pies on display for you to pick/reheat. GET A SLICE OF THE WHITE PIE, then try whatever Vito or whoever else behind the counter recommends.

I`m not worried yet.

I`ve been going several times a week, and have never had to wait yet, but I am worried that the place is so good that people will start catching on, and the place will be packed in the future.

2 for 2 brah.

Vitos was awesome. Vito the man was super cool to talk with as was his fella working with him. We just got slices of cheese, but damn they were good. Next time we're gonna go with the white pie.

Later in the middle of the nite, my chick wakes up and I'm already kinda up cuz of awful cold#2 keeping me awake and I hear her say

"I can't sleep"

"Why not" - i ask

"I keep thinking about Vito's pizza"

"how so?" - i ask

"about how good it was!"

"yea it was great, we'll go back soon" - i say and fell asleep again instantly

Well ****, another satisfied customer. I told the guys that I literally had dreams of the white pie after they closed. They laughed it off but told me they completely understood. Guess I'll be expecting my wedding invitation in the mail...

Pizano's is my favorite for both thin and deep dish. It's all about the crust, simply sublime, unlike anything I've ever had.

I had a great pizza on Saturday night. It was easily the best I have ever had. Unfortunately, I don't remember the name. We had four pizzas. Two were stuffed and fried, one was stuffed and baked and the other was a classic Margherita.
