+1 on the sims. I logged some heavy hours on those games in the early-mid 2000's. Have yet to play sims 3, but it looks pretty good.

WINNARRRR... i've been meaning to get this game and considered getting a brand new gaming laptop just to play it (it's graphic intensive).. it's called Dawn of Discovery here in the States where its less popular than in Europe.. haven't had time to play video games in a bunch of years but this is the only game that's been in my radar in recent memory. i usually just drool via youtube, as once i start getting into a game that i really like it ***** up my work/social schedule so i tend not to buy in the end and forget about it.

The Red Alert/Command and Conquer series. I've had various versions throughout the years and hands down these are some of the most fun games ever made.

I'm also a fan of the Civilizations/Age of Empires genre as well.

Strategy games rock.

Take yourselves back, waaaaay back in time, to M.U.L.E.

Also some Seven Cities of Gold, SimCity, Age of Empires, Baldur's Gate II, and one other world exploration/trade strategy game by some European outfit, the name of which eludes me -- I will check when I get home.

Grim Fandango is probably my favorite PC game of all time. It really deserved more commercial success than it received.

A close second would be Interstate 76.

And then anything by Tim Schafer, with Grim Fandango and Day of the Tentacle at the top.

I've been playing the multiplayer for Battlefield: Bad Company 2 since it came out. Now that most of the connection problems have been fixed, it is definitely a better MP game than Modern Warfare 2.

Grim Fandango, wow that's a blast from the past...wonder if it'll run in Wine.

My favorite PC game to this day is still Tetrisnet. Awesome. If anyone is interested, I've been trying to get a group together to play this online for years.

Maybe we can set up a SF Tetrisnet tourney.

Google it up, the client and server are free.
