I have just started listening to his solo stuff having listened to every S&G album 10 times. But his live version of "American Tune" is my favorite of anything he has done. What is yours?

Graceland is the best for me, followed by Bookends.

If you pressed me, probably El Cóndor Pasa, even though it's a cover. EDIT: You know what, I changed my mind. America for me.

some others:

Graceland
Homeward Bound

The list of my Paul Simon favorites is simply too long. The album of his I resort to most often is There Goes Rhymin' Simon. The album's theme seems to be how Simon views the delicate nature of relationships over time.

It's his second solo album and was recorded in several studios. Kodachrome sets the opening mood. He used a studio in Muscle Shoals, Alabama, and some of the area talent (a Gospel group called The Dixie Hummingbirds) for the bright sound of Loves Me Like A Rock. It's a fine old Gospel song about a mother's love. Something So Right is still likely Simon's ultimate love song. American Tune that michaeljkrell discusses in the original post is actually a J.S. Bach guitar tune reworked by Simon.

JK. Never really got into the solo Simon. Seriously though, S&G have an awesome body of work. Very difficult to pick a favorite.....

Solo would probably be "Still Crazy After All These Years".

S&G would be "The Boxer", "The Sounds of Silence", "Homeward Bound", and "I Am A Rock"

My roommate first mentioned American Tune to me because of that reason...
