Art and architecture are two great legacies of religion (particularly Christianity). Cathedrals are just awe-inspiring. Post your favorites. I've always been fond of Winchester. It's quite sad that so many of the English cathedrals are a shadow of their former selves. We can thank the Protestants for ruining much of the beauty within these structures.

Cathedrals are IMO the most unbelievably beautiful form of architecture. Amiens

I'll also self-plug a photo of the Cathedral of Mary Our Queen in Baltimore, only because I have one

^^ Great choice.

Montreal has two large cathedrals within a few blocks of one another downtown. At lunch hour, businessmen stream out of their office buildings to the ringing of churchbells.

St. Marko in Venice
Very spooky and ancient looking building especially inside. Typical Original Christian church that has Byzantine and Greek feel to it.

Runner up is St. Peter in Vatican, incredibly peacefull and comfortable albeit giagantic interior.

Awesome. Not necessarily a cathedral, but a Basilica if you want to nitpick. Basilica of Our Lady of Sorrows, Chicago:

I am torn on the idea of cathedrals. They are pretty to look at though.
