faux leather, unforgiveable or tolerable?

I'm looking for a fall jacket, and since I just graduated and am job hunting I don't have much to spend.

I know I should hate faux leather but I keep thinking "that's not SO bad."

So I need to hear some other opinions. What do y'all think?

Some faux leather jackets do not look to bad when new. But the whole point of buying a leather jacket is that it will last a long time and stay looking good, and it is breathable yet weather resistant. When you compare it to faux leather which will look worse with wear rather than better, will not last as long, and will not be very breathable. I think you should wait until you can afford a nice real leather one, (the expenditure is really no that much considering how long it can last you), and for now just wear fabric jackets.

There is not much more to say, really. The only faux leather jackets that I've seen that are cool and interesting were this bonded matte material that was deliberately made so you couldn't tell what the material was. Of course, that jacket was $2K+.

How do you prefer trousers to be finished?

  • Plain hem

  • Cuffed (1.5 inches or less)

  • Cuffed (more than 1.5 inches)

  • No preference, as long as the proportions work
