Fat short neck, Big head, collar advice

Making the jump to online MTM shirts.

My neck is 17.5" and I can't stand the parachuting waist that comes with an off the rack 17.5" shirt.

Also, my neck is short and my head is huge. (7 7/8" fitted hat)

My question is:

Should I get long collar points such as 3.5"+ and make the collar back height as short as possible such as 1.5" or less?

Would that be standard procedure for big head short neck syndrome?

Pictures would help a lot. So you have average proportions other than a big head (long, presumably) and short neck? Short collar back height sounds right. Short collar points, maybe slightly short? (A long torso would more easily accept long points.) You could measure the points on your RTW shirts and adjust per what you think would look better.
