in addition to the above, i also find "upstreet" (either uk or france edition) to be good and also look for "fashion inc" (uk mag formerly called loaded fashion);
"10+" can be of interest sometimes but hard to find

any of the european editions of gq can be interesting

in canada, we also have "strut", "toro" and "sir" magazines for the guy crowd

There is an awesome Japanese men's fashion magazine called 'LEON' that is about 250 pages per monthly issue and has tons of pictures and articles. The only problem is that it's in Japanese and costs $15.00. But I always peruse it for free at my local Japanese market.

I will purchase an issue and post pictures.

Honestly Maxim magazine and the like are trying to go more mainstream. They do have style sections regarding male fashion. So you could honestly say they are trying to become a general man's magazine.

I cancelled my subscription to GQ US this year... I had it 3 years and it is allways the same stuff repacked again and again...

I am switching to Arena UK, the writers there are great, I allways laugh out loud reading it...

GQ US was lately a bore...

Anyway GQ UK is better than the US version, but I will do a switch for a year or two to Arena, then we'll see...

I also read Vogue Homme French, but they are out every 4 months or so...

the only one's I don't regret buying about 5 minutes after I leave the cash register are menswear, esquire's blackbook and the deceased Vitals Man. Also, I seem to recall that the german FHM (of all things) impressed me while I waited for a train in Berlin once.

really? I've found that one to be even more disappointing than the US version. The clothing coverage may be better, but there's always like 3 pages, maximum, of it. The rests eems to be about "football" and all kindsa slang I don't understand. US GQ's style may reek of mediocre fashion-victimhood, but at least there's a couple dozen pages of it per issue.

It depends on your level of fashion sense and comprehension but I find a good elementary book on fashion to be a better starting point than fashion magazine subscriptions. It's better to start by figuring out underlying principles than to get a gazillion examples, all of them in the form of ads, and just about every example being outrageously overpriced on top of that.
