My heart goes out to her. Awful accident to read about. I can recall as a kid weekend flying with my father and next door neighbor in a small propeller plane. I remember the propeller spinning so quickly, thinking it would be easy to walk into if not paying attention.

Read that she is is now able to say a few words and open her right eye. Hope she continues to improve.

Really sad, but I really don't think this would be news if she wasn't so pretty. They id her as a fashion editor and then during the news report they list her as a model. Which is it? I think it's some cheap news on ABC's part. Feel bad for her and her family.

Don't know why the pilot would still have the engine running as she's exiting the plane... especially at night. Easily could have been avoided.

As tragic as it is for her the same thought raced through my mind. Did she not see, hear, feel the wind blowing?

    Well... she is a blonde.

I don't get how she exited the plane before the pilot. I think she would've exited behind the wing, walked around the wing, and then back toward the plane and its noisy engine where she met the prop. Freak accident indeed.

Probably won't know what actually happened until the pilot releases a statement.

As far as legality goes, there is no rule about leaving the engine running while people are deplaning. Obviously it isn't wise to do it with people who lack experience with aircraft...

I saw a clip where they said she probably left the plane, then returned to it, presumably to thank the pilot, and ran into it that way. As sad as the story is, how do you walk into a plane propeller by accident?

You cant exactly see them you know... You may hear the engine but not the propeller. Also, if you're over excited from the trip you may not be thinking too clearly. Really the engine should've been off.

That's the only explanation that made sense to me.

The plane was a Aviat Husky If anyone here is familiar with it. It has a single engine up front.

Now it makes more sense. The whole time I was thinking it was a low wing twin aircraft where walking into the prop would mean walking directly into the wing. With the engine up front, I can see how it can happen.

I wish her all the best in her recovery.
