Looks like we'll be in Atlanta for Christmas, staying with my gf's family in Linwood. I have a few questions:

1. Any must see shops? Will it be a madhouse over the Christmas period? My memory of Atlanta is that there is no condensed downtown but everything is spread along miles of Peachtree Street.

2. Weather: will it be cold enough to need my Crombie and or leather 'Shaft' coat? I'm coming from Houston where these come out once every other year! Any other dress code tips?

3. She wants to go to a spot called Chandra's. Any knowledge of this place? Any other suggestions for an upscale drink, food, jazz club etc. Last time we were there we went to a place called Lucalunas (sp?) which was good.

Any pearls of wisdom much appreciated. Cheers.

Maybe maybe not. Just look at the weather closer to the day.

No.

Where will you be staying? What are you looking for?

Loca Luna is the place. It is OK.

IMO, I'd skip Sid Mashburn. Check out Miller Brothers:

Great clothes, great guys run the place, hi def TVs, and a cocktail. Beats the mall!

Yes, it could definitely be cold enough to need a heavy coat. Bring it.

Recommend Churchill Grounds as a nice jazz spot. Recommend Northside Tavern as a old-school hole-in-the-wall blues joint. Both are fun, on opposite ends of the upscale / downscale spectrum.

Ormsby's is a fun pub in a developing area just west of the GA Tech campus. Good cocktails and very good inexpensive pub food. Also recommend Hobnob at the corner of Piedmont & Monroe, similar type of place. Holeman & Finch in Buckhead is outstanding - it's where chefs go to eat and drink liquor drinks. Fantastic menu though you have to be an "adventurous eater" for some of it.

Feel free to PM if you have any questions - enjoy the trip.
