I was in Jermyn Street earlier eyeing up a pair of C&J Moltons which have been on my radar for a while now. But the damn dainite soles put me off and so had a very long chat about resole options with them. Decided not to buy them today and then popped into Church's store to enquire about resoling my Ryder 3s as I've been contemplating converting them something lightweight like Gumlite for while (I have a pair of Church's Chelsea boots undergoing a Gumlite conversion at Kokos as an experiment)
Church's said that all their models with dainite soles have been changed to a newer version that is softer and lighter after feedback from customers. Out of curiosity I tried on the Ryder's and was pleasantly surprised. Anyone who owns this boot will know how heavy they are but these new ones felt just as light as my Salomon walking trainers and extremely comfortable. Day night difference!
On the flip side, church's have increased their prices on all their shoes (unrelated to
soles) and the Ryder's now cost £620. A massive hike from £410!!
So anyway, now I'm at a loss as to whether buy the Moltons and resole or wait and hope C&J start using this new version on all their shoes
