Fancy clubbing shirt - Jantzen blew it!

I ordered my first shirt from Jantzen Tailor which was meant to be a simple check or windowpane OCBD. Ricky emailed me back and informed me that the fabric I chose was out of stock. Fine, I made a second choice. He emailed again to let me know that the second choice swatch was incorrectly labeled as pin-point oxford when in fact is fine cotton twill. OK, how about white oxford/ navy stripes? Confirmed by Ricky and the shirt arrived a week later. Pretty decent turnaround time and communication aside from the sometimes weeks long intervals between our back and forth emails.

Now here's the problem. What I received was fabric choice 2, a white with black window pane button down collar in fine cotton twill. I could have lived with this, except they did the stitching in black! They made me a "fancy clubbing shirt" like it says on their site. On the order form, I chose "self-color" for the stitching which I assumed would be white. Confused, I searched around on the Internet for a comparable shirt for a frame of reference but found nothing.

I tried emailing Ricky, but since it's Chinese New Year they'll be closed for the next couple of weeks. Does anyone know if they will take it back, or should I just blow it off? They haven't even charged my card yet.

Aside from mine, is there even such a thing as a white twill button-down collared shirt with black stitching and black windowpanes. Am I breaking new ground?

i'd chalk it up as a loss. they are real weird about their billing times. i ordered two shirts the last week of november, each on different CCs. Both shirts arrived at the same time. i was charged for one right away and the other just now.

lets see pics of the shirt.

From past experience they will either not charge you or send you a new shirt and let you keep the current one.

My first shirt they sent me a completely different fabric. I asked what he could do for me and he apologized and offered to sent one shirt free on my next order and to keep the first shirt. My next batch of two shirts are just as ordered. Don't know if he will only charge me for (only) one, but I have high hopes.

For all the posts like this I see here and in other forums- why does anybody still give them business?

I ask out of curiosity, not snark.

It's amazing that Jantzen seems to be the standard MTM shirt service recommendation on this forum despite all these problems.

Because it is hard to resist custom shirts for $50 and many of them are nice. I have three and while the first was too tight after I washed it I like them all better than and of the OTR shirts I bought before finding styleforum.

Because a price like that just can't be beat, for a poor man like myself. Certainly if you have other than average measurements as I have. When I go to a shirt section of most department stores my choice in fabrics (for shirts with extra long sleeves) are white, light blue and light blue with a light stripe, oh and white ofcourse. And then the shirt probably wouldn't be slimfitting. It's all so boring. As shown in another thread I just got a shirt made with the fabric shown below. It might not be very exciting, but given the choice out there, to me it is. And certainly for that price.

Obviously, I can only speak for myself, but I have to say that, although all my shirts I ordered from Jantzen have turned out surprisingly (if not exceptionally) well, I hesitate to order a new batch, simply because I would hate the hassle it might involve. I enjoy ordering new clothes, and if I didn´t receive them after a reasonable time/not at all, this would undoubtedly tarnish the overall buying experience, even if it eventually showed up.
On the other hand, Jantzen´s cost/performance ratio is pretty much unbeatable. I get five or six Jantzens for the price I pay for just one shirt from a local guy.
Perhaps someday I will take the plunge and give them another try, but I would never order a shirt I really needed (e.g. to wear it to a certain occasion) from Jantzen.

I could probably do a twill button-down or maybe even an oxford shirt with contrast stitch for a very casual streetwear-type look, but the two combined seems weird to me. The fit is actually really good. I have a relatively long torso and short arms, so MTM is great for me. I'll try and post some fit pics later.

Then end of the link has to stop at the .jpg like this: http://farm4.static.flickr.com/3352/...a9fda9013c.jpg Then you get this:

You can pull this off with a tie or under a v-neck, as most of the buttonholes will be hidden.

Ahh, thanks for the photo link tip.

Yeah, I have a black v-neck that I was thinking might work. Maybe a knit tie and jeans.

Definitely -100 iGent points overall. The Foof does not abide. I'm not sure I do myself.
