looking for hotels around disneyland in anaheim

something like a family suite ... either with or without a separate bedroom

any helpful input is appreciated

has anyone stayed at any of the disney hotels?

the disney hotel is good because you can take the monorail there direct and not have to park or drive home (you'll be tired). there's also a cool "Goofy's kitchen" breakfast buffet for kids there (it is kind of pricy but they have the mickey characters come out). I've stayed there but it was a long time ago. the other hotels in the area are fine...the ones near Disney as long as you stick with the reliable chains.

Seaworld...there are a ton of hotels on Misson Bay there's a circle of them on one street. I've stayed at the Marriott near Qualcomm stadium, it was..well, a Marriott...pretty clean. Some of the cheaper hotels are a little dingy though.

The Embassy Suites Anaheim South has 2-room suites, and includes a hot buffet breakfast and an evening cocktail hour. The latter is a welcome opportunity to transition from the theme park to a low-key evening. It's relatively new and there's a Target across the street. The hotel has an outdoor pool, but it's very small.

There is a shuttle bus --- almost a trolley --- to get to Disneyland. I think it costs about $3, but that's just a guess.

Nothing against the Disney Resort --- which might be your best option --- but we enjoyed our stay here and would recommend.

For the exact opposite of a family friendly hotel is HardRock in San Diego.
That is for when you need to escape from the kids.

Any generic hotel im sure will do for a family.

Hotel del Coronado is very nice (expensive) but its right on the beach and historic. http://www.hoteldel.com/ In Carlsbad you can stay at the Sheraton next to Legoland. my brother said it was convienient. Its a drive to Sea World...maybe 20-30 minutes? North county is pretty clean/family friendly but its a drive to San Diego proper. http://www.sheratoncarlsbad.com/
