I'm a newbie to SF, and have enjoyed reading others' comments but never posted myself. So thanks in advance for reading this post.
I've bought and sold plenty of Polo Ralph Lauren on eBay, and would say I'm more familiar with the Polo brand than with any other line of clothing.
I know eBay has a problem with fake merchandise, and that others have posted about it before. Nothing frustrates me more than seeing stuff like this on eBay:

Nothing, that is, except seeing buyers bid on this stuff. As of writing this, the auction has 44 minutes left and the highest bid is $54. Are there that many clueless people out there to bid on an obviously fake Polo cashmere sweater? (The sweater currently has 10 bids, after all.) Even a Polo novice would notice the fake label. Also there's the sweater construction that differs from any real Polo cashmere sweater, and the fabric (which looks more like sweatshirt material than cashmere).
The seller, puzzlingly enough, has mostly positive feedback, and past winners of this supposedly "100% Authentic Ralph Lauren Polo Cashmere Sweater" have been pleased. (Here's one: http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll...=330056263816).
Am I missing something here? Is there a reason eBay (and to a certain degree, Polo) turn a blind eye to this kind of stuff? I just hate seeing people depart with hard-earned money and not even really they're getting stiffed.
