it makes zero sense to buy something and then concern yourself with its authenticity.
Get it altered to fit you, provided you can, and enjoy it. Just make sure your home is decked out in shiny brass at Patrick Nagel prints.

Oxxford is genuine. I would be very surprised to find find a fake oxxford, who, outside of this forum would jave any idea who they are?

is it just me or is there something unusual about the proportions of that jacket? I’m referring specifically to the first pic.

It looks super long in proportion to everything else, unless it's just a weird angle or something.

On the main issue, I think the odds of anything Oxxford being faked on eBay are extremely low. It's virtually unknown outside of menswear circles like SF, despite being very high quality stuff. I've picked up a couple good Oxxford sport coats on eBay. I will say that Oxxford stuff on eBay does skew heavily toward very dated stuff.

Looks dated as a suit, but I can see a lot of potential for the bold check patterns as separates (sportcoat paired with a rust or grey slacks, and pants with autumn wear (solid color sweaters etc) ...

Could be. I was just speaking generally about the Oxxford stuff on eBay. Sometimes the tags have dates, and I've seen a lot of very dated stuff from the late 70s and early 80s. Some good stuff mixed in though.
