    Hello Gents.

I have just purchased this tie from eBay. Upon receipt there were quite a few red flags for me. The poor finish (loose threads on the inside of the tie), the packaging was not Kiton packaging, the underside of the tie is plain white when every other Kiton tie I have seen is the same colour, the label claims its silk and the seller listed it as canvas. The seller claims it was listed as a seven fold tie by mistake when its actually a four fold (do Kiton even do 4 fold?) and is sticking quite rigidly to the fact it is not fake responding to me as follows when I told him I would pop into the Kiton store in London to authenticate it:

"Yes please do go in... actually summer ties on canvas are made like this. Kiton, isaia and borrelli have this same technique.

You have to remember it is designed as a lightweight summer tie not a formal tie like the rest of kiton 7 fold ties. You will never find fake hand rolled and hand stitched ties which is a fact. Well not that I have ever seen. I only buy high end brands.

All the kiton ties I own have the same label.

This type of tie I have seen in cashmere winter tie and also summer ties never in the core formal ties.

I’m more than happy to show you photos of my collection to verify I only buy genuine."

I would appreciate your comments thanks. Its only my third Kiton tie and the first I have purchased on eBay.

Thanks so just an error in listing? He said originally it was seven fold.

I am too lazy to search but there was once a SF member by the name of voxsartoria (peace be upon him) that made a large post with pictures showing the differences in 6/7/9 fold ties and how ties like the one in your pic are regularly referred to as 7 or 6 fold ties, even though they are not. member Sam Hober has also written on it (and I think has something on it on his site, samhober.com). So, basically you are correct, its not a 7 fold but 95% of the ties made that way will be referred to as 7 fold ties in the marketplace.

Much appreciated. I had best apologise to the seller for questioning its authenticity. I was surprised Kiton would produce a tie with loose threads hanging from it though.

Can I get a check on this scarf label? The kerning looks a bit off but the material feels good.

Especially with a seller that only has two feedbacks (with both being from the same buyer).

That’s what I thought. Plus the plastic around the zip etc.

    Thanks for the feedback.

Real and it is a 7 fold (... really a 6 fold ) but not a 4. Also canvas doesn't describe the material of the fibers of the cloth. You can have silk canvas. I wouldn't have described it as that but maybe its a rough weave unlike silks that people are commonly used to.
