Fabric for hot weather

I live in a place where temp is around 80 throughout the year and pretty humid. Was wondering what kind of fabrics I should look to buy for dress pants.

For example, should I avoid wool?

Linen, tropical (lightweight) wool, or fresco (lightweight wool with an open weave so that it breathes better). Obviously linen will wrinkle easily, so this may not be dressy enough for you.

Linen, silk and madras cotton. Stick to light colours for daytime wear. Avoid synthetics altogether. They don't breathe & you'll roast.
Observe those around you. See the ones who are not sweating? Strike up a conversation with them and ask their opinions.
I'm sure they would be happy to share some tips with you. Also use the search feature here on SF, as this topic has been covered dozens of times.

Although I dont have any of my own, Ive heard mohair is pretty nice in the summer.

Silk? Are you people crazy? Silk is hot as nuts. Honestly I have never found anything else to be as cool as lightweight wools or even heavier frescos in the summer.

I have 8% silk in my linen SC and I think it helps keep it less wrinkly/softer

Look, you better tell billions of women around the world who have been wearing silks for thousands of years and staying wonderfully cool, that their silks are too warm.

That is true. Such unpredictable adorable creatures. I know there are those who avoid silks but as you know there are very fine grades of silks as well. Here in Toronto Canada we do get some scorching hot days and my silk shirts have never failed me. I do wear more lightweight linens than silks but everyone will have their own preferences.

Crisp, but you have to like a sheen. Also it fuzzes if it's very humid.
