I just read on Foxsportsworld that rumor has it Alonso forced Kovalainen out of Renault because he was "too fast." No word how true it is, but it's hilarious. The author made it very clear that Alonso is a wuss who doesn't want any competition from a teammate. Meanwhile, the author claims that Hamilton has been pushing McLaren to sign Kovalainen so that he would have better competition than De La Rosa would offer.

    Interesting article,

If true, I can't say I would be surprised.

According to this, Kovalainen will be at McLaren with Hamilton in 2008. Should be a great year for them.

Kovaleinen has been confirmed with McLaren : http://www.autosport.com/news/report.php/id/64384

I think it's common knowledge they sacrificed him to get Alonso back in the team, hence why he is paired with Nelsinho Piquet (a rookie) at Renault for 2008: http://www.autosport.com/news/report.php/id/64336

Should be very interesting to see how Kovaleinen and Hamilton work out. I think it'll be good for Heikki that his rookie year started off badly and he clawed his way to beating Fisichella (who before being teamed with Alonso was known for beating all his teammates).

I don`t think the article is true.

Piquet was already confirmed during last season and it was just a matter of who would get the remaining seat. Everyone was saying that if Alonso returned to Renault that Kovalainnen would lose his seat, so it is no big surprised that Kovalainnen will not remain with Renault.

This sound too much like the non-Spanish media, who Alonso has generally fallen out of favor with after his spat with the golden boy, overplaying a rumor. Renault isn't that stupid, they would've signed him no matter who his teammate realistically was going to be. Where else was he going to go that he would've been remotely competitive at?

In any case, it looks like both Renault and McLaren did well. Ron gets another young and talented Finn and McLaren get a 2-time champ and a talented Brit with a pedigree.
