Fellow members, Here's a pair of jeans from Helmut Lang's F/W 2000. It's labeled as a bootcut fit, although it's actually a true regular straight leg like the Canes 1945 model. The denim is a heavy 12.5 oz washed vintage style with subtle fading on the knees and back, with thigh whiskers. I can't describe how it looks, but basically the high-abrasion areas are slightly lighter, giving a amazing look where the color transitions from one indigo shade to the next. It's a true waist 33. Retail at $210 when I bought it in NY 6 years ago, and I'm asking $60 shipped. I wore them alot, and there is very little wear on them, with a slight fade and scuff on the hem (as expected with 6 years of wear!). This shows how durable Helmut Lang's denim really is.

I have these in a size 32 (and a 31 for when I try and get skinny for the summer) and they're great. As you said, durable and the quality is quite good. I've been wearing mine perhaps twice a week since college (about the same age as yours... 5-6) and they're still very good.

If they were a 31 or 32, I'd probably buy them anyway (since I'm scared to see what the crappy new Lang designers are going to put out), but that's a good price so I'm sure they'll sell quickly.

could I see a close-up pic of the knee fading? I'm thinking about these, but I'd need them hemmed a couple inches, and want to know if I'd look like I had faded shins. thanks!

Ok, I updated the pics and measurements.

The color is a washed dark blue, and as shown, very subtle fading in the knees. Note that the fabric is quite slubby as well.
