Eyeglass Frames

I know there have been a couple of thread on eyeglass frames in the past, but a new discussion could be useful. I'm looking at getting some new frames (one or two pair perhaps).

How do people feel about these Alain Mikli frames?

I'm strangely attracted to the color, but I don't know if I could pull them off on a regular basis. If nothing else I could always go with black.

Here's my face for reference.

I'm also thinking about these Gucci frames.

Any other recommendations would be welcome.

I have four pairs of Miklis and I'm very happy with them. I've discovered that one of the lens shapes they use just "fits" my face perfectly, so I make sure whatever style I buy uses that shape. The construction is top notch - I have seen nothing better on the market. As for the loudness factor, I think you'll get over it very quickly, provided you stay away from the truly crazy styles (the frames you picked don't qualify).

I've been wearing Mikli frames for several years now and find them to be excellent. They stay reasonably stylish over time. They are very durable. Except for nose piece changes I've not broken them yet. I have 3 sets of the same shape in Red, Green and Black. I change them out depending on the outfit. Looking at your choice I'd say go for it.

Does Pro Designs do phone orders? They have some great looking frames but apparently no one sells them on the internet.

Alain Mikli is great for everyday wear. High quality frames and they have unique designs that aren't seen elsewhere.

Cutler & Gross is a good alternative, and for a edgy fashion eyewear, Oliver Peoples.

The hornrimmed Oliver Peoples frames (seen in American Psycho) are landmarks in classic eyewear. Would look comical on my face, but when someone can pull them off...wow!

In much the same vein as prodesign (same designers) is the Eye Eye Denmark line http://www.eedk.com/.

I am not such a big fan of the half-rims, but I know that they are popular right now.

Also, I am pretty sure that you cannot get prodesign online.

I shop in-store - can't imagine buying frames w/out trying them on. Tho' I know that some feel that way about shoes....
