There's plenty of expensive things that don't make sense, the x-factor here being the person who's saying it. A 5k Rolex may not make much sense to you but it may to somebody else

All designers put out corny, campy stuff to create buzz and hope that people will buy them as corny gifts for others. The Japanese, in particular, usually answer the call. I have a closet full of corny designer knickknacks that I received from people as gifts. Prada has made a $200 Yo-yo, Hermes makes $300 dog collars and $90 playing cards, Louis Vuitton made chopsticks, Gucci has made a typewriter and a Cadillac Seville, Dior Homme makes a shaver. Viktor & Rolf's original "La Parfum" was a bottle that wouldn't open and that had nothing inside it. It was sealed and even if you broke it open... there was nothing in it. Great way to spend a few hundred $$$, right???

Don't forget about the rubber Gucci ice-cube trays that make G-shaped pieces of ice.

Clothing and accessories that have designer logos all over them....most times they are expensive for inferior quality and not pleasing to the eye. e.g. Gucci

Collar stays. I actually bought a set for almost a hundred bucks. Used them a few times. Then I got a set of sturdy plastic ones from Sacks for under $10....8 pairs in 4 different sizes and I use these exclusively.

How about a Texas-shaped swimming pool filled with Perrier?

This was a N-M Xmas season gift one year.

They were small, so I bought two.

Now just cause you drive a cheap 12 year old japanese car and never change the oil doesn't mean you should dismiss the Porsche as an overpriced toy.

Eh. If they made Gucci condoms, there would be no dearth of babies being born.
