Expanding Waistline and Jeans

OK, my waistline is showing clear evidence of my indulgence. I've probably packed on 8-9 lbs over the course of a year or so, and about half of that came during the holidays when I sat around like a fat slob and ate to my heart's content.

This just happens to coincide with several pair of jeans reaching the end of their useful life, developing small holes and rips.

Should I just face the music and buy jeans in my current, actual waist size (31")? Or, should I stick with my original waist size (30"), and wear those until I exercise my way back to shape. With the former strategy, I get jeans that fit right away without discomfort. With the latter strategy, I don't have to buy another pair of jeans that fit properly when I get back in shape. Thoughts?

Get some ******* motivation and drop the weight if you're unhappy with it. If you're happy with the weight gain (which doesn't appear to be the case based on your description) size up.

31" is huge! everyone is supposed to have 28" waists w/ 5% body fat and a 500lb squat.

I gained a few pounds, but I can still fit into my jeans fine. I wouldn't buy jeans just for your "new" waist size. You'll feel like a dumbAZZ after you lose all that weight that you don't want.

Word. I'll just have to endure a few weeks of my gut hanging out over my pants like a Packers fan then. Whilst I get my jiggy back into shape. Shouldn't take long, with my slowly but surely gym ethic.

Edit: I might just get a looser pair though just as beaters jeans.

Word. H&M had some decent beater jeans in recently.

If that is the case, I need to become bulimic while increasing my strength. Tips anyone?

Yeah, don't become bulimic. It's too messy. Stick with Anorexhea

Seriously though, same thing happened to me last year. You'll lose the weight and get back to your normal 30, so either just make do with the jeans you've got or buy some cheap H&M's or levi's or whatever in the meantime. You'll still wear them later after you lose the weight with a belt. Besides, 8-9 pounds is sort of pushing it, but really my weight constantly bounces 2-3 pounds over a few months.

Buy some cheap Levi's/H&M until you can get back into your cool jeans.
