Hello,

I'm looking for an example of a shoe like these Aldens where there is toe stitching, but the stitching is concealed under an additional layer of leather, so one does not see the actual stitching, only the texture of the stitching in the top layer. I believe this is a called a blind seam? TIA!

Thanks, but this isn't quite what I'm looking for. I have a memory of seeing a shoe where the top layer of leather over the seam is neither perforated with stitches nor cut. It's simply stretched tightly over the seam in one whole piece so really the only evidence of a seam is the texture of the stitching. Does this exist or am I way off?

The lining is split and sewn and the stitches show through the uppers.

I'd need a closer photo in the case of the Aldens but I don't think that in the case of the Mantelassi's or the Aldens, there is really a seam in the upper. A seam joins two pieces of leather. I think the stitching is just decorative in the case of the Aldens and may indeed be a shadow of a lining seam in the case of the Mantelassi.

You are absolutely right. No seam on the vamps of either brand, purely decorative.
