looks like even the XS might be too big (just going by the shoulder measurement)
I bought one to test. A large measures 22" at the chest, and 27" length from the bottom of the collar. No taper either. At 6'4", it's a bit too short for me.
I placed an order Sunday night for size medium. Will let you guys know how it fits when I get it.
Got my everlane tees and backpack yesterday. For the tees I got the white vneck and the muted black pocket tee. I got the grey snap backpack. For reference I'm 6'1" 170 lbs with a 40" chest and I got a medium in the tees. Here are my thoughts:
white vneck: It's solid. I've been looking for a white vneck that isn't see through and this fits the bill. It fits pretty well
black pocket tee: It fits a little slimmer than the vneck. I'm considering going a size up if I get another one.
My turn! Got mine yesterday. Everlane sadly subscribes to the philosophy that t-shirts should be tight at the chest and loose in the waist. Luckily the effect is not as pronounced as, say, American apparel, but I wish Everlane would lower the armholes or make the chest a bit larger while giving the torso more taper.
Sleeves could be cut better. They are cut long and wide, which is the least flattering shape t-shirt sleeves can take. I love when brands cut their sleeves at an angle or, if not, at least cut them narrow to avoid that frumpy "wing" effect that happens otherwise. Granted my arms are maybe one notch removed from twig status, but still-- they could be cut better.
But the fabric is terrific. Much better than the AA or J-Crew stuff I've worn in the past.
I'm 5'7" and 130, XS fits me pretty well. Have only tried the v-necks though.
Have the same one, I've gotten a lot of compliments on it.
Are they not stocking their backpack anymore?
I am 5'11", 155lb, 37" chest and the S fits me quite well.
The backpack is cool. Mine had a lot of lint and little pieces of leather from the straps stuck on it but it's not a big deal. I figure that's common with waxed stuff.
Maybe it just doesn't fit your build? I actually found the sleeves to fit me well, not too long and fairly slim. But I agree the fabric is better than American Apparel and maybe Alternative Apparel too. Definitely worth the price.
Really appreciate the feedback. We are working on the taper - our next run of larges will have 2 more inches of drop (measured all the way around) in size L.
Glad you liked the shirts! The pocket tee made up on the slim side - we worked it out with the factory so they will be consistent in the future, so M is definitely your size.
What size did you get? our size L will have more taper in the future - Glad you liked the quality, we really worked hard to get the best materials and production facilities for our tees.
Glad you liked the shirts - for folks who want to look at the backpacks, we originally sent this out to friends, family and early subscribers so they could get first dibs (our run was only half the size we originally expected) but anyways, here's the collection!
I have a 36-37" chest and got the small. I actually like the way it fits in the torso, but the chest is veering on tight, creating a slightly "A-line" look that isn't as flattering as it could be. I was thinking I could just have the wrong build for the shirt, but from the way they fit the model, it seems the "tight chest looser body" is the intended look. An improvement would be either to lower the armholes or to widen the chest to balance out the fit in the torso.
Now, to be fair, it fits a whole lot better than a small in American Apparel, Alternative Apparel, Number Lab, among others. But since you guys are still working on improving the fit, I thought I'd throw in my thoughts
Thanks for the backpack link!!
I've been looking for a small clean backpack for awhile now so I just ordered clip grey backpack and some t's.. Too bad I won't be stateside until the end of March to pick it up
What other items do you guys plan on releasing?
Uhhh I said it was tight in the chest and loose in the waist. A new gym routine wouldn't improve that.
Interesting you thought they were loose in the waist, I have an 8" drop and didn't have that problem. I got the medium, though, and it sounds like there may be a difference in cut between sizes. If the arms were any smaller I think it would look really awkward on me. I am only comparing this to similarly priced tees, though - I haven't played around with designer tees so maybe you have a higher standard.
thenanyu - Will these (specifically, the white crew) shrink at all in the wash?
The fabric is all pre-washed so any shrinkage should be minimal, and any you do experience will stretch back out almost immediately.
