ever done your own hem?

yes, successfully, on predistressed jeans. i shortened them with the orginal hem and they look just fine and as good as any tailor job.

i tried to hem my APC's but the denim was too thick and stiff for my machine to handle. i ended up breaking 3 needles! so off to the tailor they went. they came out fine and after the wash the roping affect was still there like it always should be

I'm wondering if I should have done a double fold at the bottom. All I did with these was cut fold over and sew.

Nah, that looks fine. The fabric was going to wear out no matter what.

The wear is more a function of the length than of your sewing chops. If you weren't walking on them, they wouldn't get messed up.

max is right. all you have to do is shorten them enough to hide the wear.

since this was brought up, i've always wondered what it meant to use the original hem.
