So what exactLy separates the biz from the event? Tie pattern? Stripes on shirt?

generally bright colors, bright pocket squares, lot of activity on a shirt (gingham, for instance).

Here's what I did but the suit is Prince of Wales and not solid grey.

The pocket square is wrong...should have been linen to balance the silkiness of the tie.

What would you Change up? Are you saying it needs more color??

brighter tie and shirt.

I would wear the above look to the office. its nice, don't get me wrong, but it seems a bit lifeless.

The pocket square is a soft cotton (6 pack nordstrom). I couldn't find a linen square for anything in the world. The shirt looks better in person, the phone pics make it look dead.

So wearing a silk ps with silk tie is a no go??

I pretty much live and die by Spoo's Clues.

Spoo's Clue #6: Shiny tie=slubby/flat PS and conversely, slubby/flat tie= shiny PS. There's a corollary somewhere in there that takes the suit fabric into account as well but that's a bit more advanced than I have progressed. Yer on yer own, there.
