I am trying to book some cheap flights within Europe, are there deep discount European airlines other than Ryanair and Easyjet?

SkyEurope flies quite a few central european routes, and there are some Spanish and German airlines as well.

Can only comment on RyanAir. Flew there from Eindhoven, Netherlands to Stansted in London and back.

The plane arrive to pick us up in the Netherlands 4 hours late. Coming back, Stansted was so packed and disorganized I couldn't believe I was in the first world. 2 hours in a "line" and finally had to literally push people out of the way to not miss my flight. Definitely buy the $20 travel insurance, which I didn't.

Blue1 - they are a Finnish company so most flights are in Scandanavia but they have other destinations as well.

I've flown Ryanair about a dozen times and never had a major problem. It was a godsend on a limited budget. My wife and I went to Palermo on December for a weekend - $45 round trip for two, total, after taxes.

Not much twixt Ryanair and Easyjet. The former is now charging per piece of hold luggage; and if you forget to pay on line, you pay double at the airport. Carry-on isn't charged. Yet. Also, they are lowering their baggage weight allowance as of Nov first. I find EJ marginally better in that they have seat back pockets, generally let you get away with a kilo or so over the allowance more often than Ryanair. All much of a muchness, really.
Try this:
www.skyscanner.net for route servers and prices etc.

Depends where you're going. To Ireland, Aer Lingus is cheaper (and nicer) than Ryanair, and it runs out of Heathrow. Aer Arann is also comparable in price to Ryanair/Easyjet.

in additional to the above:

"dba" (www.flydba.com) and "air berlin" (www.airberlin.com) are decent for germany and bordering countries

as mentioned above, "blue1" and "snowflake" (www.flysnowflake.com) are good for scandanavia with both also connecting to a lot of other mainland european countries (both are part of SAS airlines)

and despite it's odd name, "air baboo" (www.flybaboo.com) flys out of geneva switzerland to some very select destinations along with "crossair" (which is owned by swiss)

"virgin express" is also decent (www.virgin-express.com)

Air Baboo???
Now that sounds to me like it would fly to Tom Waits' 'Bob's Airport'.

NY Times reviews 7 of the European discount airlines:

FlyBaboo, www.flybaboo.com.
Sterling, www.sterling.dk.
Air Berlin, www.airberlin.com.
RyanAir, www.ryanair.com.
Jet4you, www.jet4you.com.
Wizz Air, www.wizzair.com.
EasyJet, www.easyjet.com.

FlyBaboo is the best of the bunch, Air Berlin is pretty good while RyanAir is at the bottom or near the bottom, which is consistent with SF members' sentiment. The author also recommends www.flylc.com which maps out all the European routes served by discounted airlines, I find it extremely useful and easy to use.
