Hi all,
I'm relatively new here (just a few brief Q&A posts), but have been lurking for quite sometime. This coming Friday, I am traveling to the University of Glasgow for a full year of study. This gives me a great opportunity to travel throuout Europe and to indulge my clothing habit in several cities. I have a myriad of questions as I know many on this site are well versed in the best places to visit. From here, I will break the post into some more manageable segments and defer to the experts for some advice...
IN SCOTLAND:
I was planning on picking up some Harris tweed cloth and sending it home to have put into an odd jacket. Also I know Ede and Ravenscroft has an Edinburgh location which I was planning to visit. Where else might I look for some more menswear in Scotland?
SHOES:
I'm in the market for a pair of dark brown cap toes with brogue punching. I was planning on going to Northampton to the various factory shops and also have been very interested in looking at carmina. Of course, I'll have to see which fits best before deciding ,but I wanted to know when would be best to catch deals at the Northampton makers' shops.
SHIRTS:
I'd say that at age 20 I've done fairly well with acquiring well fitting and decent quality shirts (best fit so far is rlbl for me). Still I'd like to upgrade. How are Ede and Ravenscroft's MTM shirtings? Other places in the UK such as Jermyn Street and the row? I have some charvet ties that i just adore and would love to pick up shirts too, but I figure that if I were to buy a few, they may add up in price quickly.
NAPLES:
I have some friends who I will meet in Naples and I know it's a major style destination. My father is a diehard kiton fan. I was curious about Marinella and the process for ordering ties ( price, turnaround for orders, best construction to order ). Also I was wondering if anyone had any experience with the new caccioppoli tailoring service (assuming it is up and running).
Apologies for my longwinded entry. Hopefully this post can be digested and I can get a few responses. Any information is greatly appreciated.
