Essential Fall shoes - what's your list?

I have my eye on a pair of Clarks db in beeswax, but wanted to ask about other styles for the fall.

What would be considered the "essential" fall shoes if you were limited to three or four pair?

I am able to wear jeans to work every day and work in a high-tech environment if that helps with choices.

Thanks!

White’s semi-dress boots are nice casual/manly footwear…

These boots aren’t cheap to get into (about $370 and up), but they are fully rebuildable and last forever making them relatively low cost in the long run. They are also quite comfortable.
The boots pictured can be seen over at the helpful custom White’s boots thread.

Something to think about anyway…

Clarks DB's w/ crepe sole are fucking terrible for the fall/winter, considering the sole has no traction in the rain.

Quote:Point taken (although I cannot remember the last time I have fallen down outside) so what would you wear instead?

I can’t help but love this style of sneaker. The untamed retro-ness is just killing me. I already spend my entire shoe budget (and more) on my White’s semi-dress boots, but if I didn’t I would consider these...

For fall, I'm having a pair of wedge-soled chunky ankle boots handmade for me by a young Tokyo shoemaker (the son of one of my wife's friends). He doesn't have his own website yet, but you can get a flavour here (he makes for men and women).

Believe it or not, the shoes that I want most for fall is a pair of Nike FlyKnit Lunar. Running, jogging, walking...they can do it all, seriously.
