Toms? I've had two pairs for about a year now and wear them very regularly - they're holding up pretty well. Inexpensive too.

One of the most famous (the most famous?) shops for espadrillas is "La Manual Alpargatera" in Barcelona: http://homepage.mac.com/manualp/Menu11.html.
Apart of their own make, they also sell espadrillas made by Gaimo. I found them to be quite good.

I bought a pair from "La Manual Alpargatera" from Barcelona a few years ago and I think I only wore them that summer. They are solid and classic, but nothing special. Last year when they were still much in fashion I bought a pair of Castaner from Asos. Castener has been the most fashionable espadrille brand in the last few years in Europe. They are a bit more expensive, and worth if bought on sale. Available from Mr Porter, Matches, even at Yoox.
Anyway, it's not much difference between a cheap pair and one that costs 100 dollars. I only wear them during vacations near the seaside, so not much use.
