I'm a small guy with little tiny shoulders and a small waist, so what's not to love about the fit of a great pea coat? I live downtown in the north, and the pea coats urban style and warmth is excellent. Unfortunately, everyone knows that.
What are my late fall/winter alternatives to the pea coat?

Nothing is fundamentally wrong with the peacoat, but it is a very casual jacket. You will need others.

I am a big fan of longer coats, but if you are a smaller guy, you may want to avoid these as they will make you seem smaller/shorter.

You could try a leather jacket or maybe a Harrington style coat (they can be found in both wool and cotton). These are more casual, but are classic and look great.

If you are looking for warmer, you could get something like a single-breasted car coat from Schott:

The gray Schott is a wonderful looking jacket. That is definitely something I'll keep my eye on as fall comes closer.
