This was from probably 7 or 8 years ago at least I think. We can absolutely still make them. It’s tricky getting the really thick hides we used but we do still get them. Also entirely possible to have the same belt with a different buckle

I'll take the ordering process offline with you (obviously) – but we're definitely gonna have to add that to the order book. Likely a Baker harness leather belt too.

In the meantime, I'm sure everyone else here would love to see additional photos/info if you have any handy and have a few minutes!

On this topic, here's a photo for last week. One of our more specialist belts, this is 6mm thick Undyed oak bark tanned bridle leather from J&FJ Baker in Devon (the very bottom of England). It makes an amazing denim belt and builds a wonderful patina as it ages and will literally outlast either the jeans or the owner. I use a Scott belt for the same purpose for a slightly quieter look but the Russet looks amazing after a few years.

Here you go, this is mine. This was a special edition for a Denim forum years and years ago. Russet 6mm bridle finished leather, it’s gone a beautiful colour

Apologies for the multiple posts but here׳s mine This dates from when you first offered the Bakers Russet. Except for the buckle area,all surfaces are the outside so you can see how the part near the end has darkened from handling. Also, this is obviously quite used.

I love how they age - that looks great! Ive hardly worn mine, I tend to wear my Scott more son I havent got the lovely patina you have

The stitching behind the keeper looks a bit worn - send it over and we can sort that out if you like?

thanks. It seems pretty solid, still, to me. Here is a close up. There is a missing/lost stitch on the left. Not sure that matters. What do you think?

The joy of hand saddle stitch is it doesn't care about wear like that, so it really doesn't matter, certainly not at the moment. If not become a problem or wears more they're made to be easily restitched, you'll never know the difference visually before and after

Heres a few photos from the last week or so. This is a triplet of items made from Bakers Oak Bark tanned Bridle Leather. It'll acquire a wonderful patina over the years of use.

By the way, that portfolio is more or less EXACTLY what I had in mind for that particular article that we've been discussing.

A few crappy pics of the Lloyd as promised. Cuir de russie/muscade chevre.
Didn't manage to capture the beauty of the leather properly due to clouds/poor photography.
Extremely happy with it though, it certainly feels like a piece that will stand with me for the ages.

• Do you have examples of the Burgundy and Australian Nut side by side? I'm afraid the swatches aren't clear enough
• Do you have an example of the nickel West End buckle?
• Will a 5-hole have less excess leather at the end (what is then tucked into your belt loop), or can I otherwise request this be shortened?

Thanks! It is a lovely piece.
No, we mostly use card or contactless over here these days. In those photos I have about 10 notes in the wallet or so. Bet it could swallow a lot more without showing it though. It really is quite slim and lightweight.

To answer the questions,

1) Not a true side by side photo, but you can see the differences pretty well here

The colours are very close, the Aus Nut is a milk chocolate colour, the Burgundy is a little darker and richer, with red the Aus Nut doesn't have, but it isn't an oxblood and the Aus Nut and Burgundy are close to each other, too close to own a belt in both. If you're struggling to decide we can send physical swatches - thats often the best way.

2) Here you go, as a quick eg - probably my favourite buckle I think

3) Yes, the 5 hole belt will have 6" of tail vs the 7" of the 7 hole belt. Theres a chart mid way down the page with all the standard specs - we can customise the tail length though
