I got my belt in the mail earlier this week and I've worn it three times since then. It's really gorgeous and I'll definitely be ordering more in the future. I've included a two pictures, sorry for the crappy quality, it was taken with my best camera, an iPhone 3GS :( The quality of the leather is fantastic and I have no doubt it will serve me well for years to come.

As promised but rather belatedly I'm attaching a photo of all the 1 1/4" base metal West Ends we carry so people can see the differences. I should say its really difficult to take a group shot that does justice to the constituent parts so this is more for an overview and I hope people forgive the less than awesome photography!

From right to left we have

Solid Brass - Traditional and a really nice casual buckle
Solid Nickel - My own favourite. Highly lustrous yellow white that tends to take its colour from its surroundings but is somewhere between brass and stainless in colour. It looks a little yellower here than a freshly polished buckle would as its next to brass. The tounge is stainless steel for longevity.
Pewter - A range we're developing. Very nice bright white and highly lustrous. Identical in pattern to the brass and nickel. This also has a stainless tounge for the same reasons.
Solid Stainless Steel - Bright white. Lacks some of the lustour of the nickel and pewter and a very slightly heavier pattern but maintenance free, shiny and very popular.

We can satin finish any of these (or any other buckles) for those who aren't shiny buckle people..

    Hope this helps!

    Hi All,

I know some of you have been waiting for an 1 1/2" version of our Stainless Steel West End buckle - after much nagging of the foundry we have now get them which is great news as the 1 1/4 is one of our most popular buckles. We've been working hard plugging some of the gaps in our buckle range and this is a big one plugged - my apologies to those who've had to wait.

Quick photo - this is actually the 1 1/4" version, the 1 1/2" are so new in they haven't been photographed yet but they are identical in shape and finish (polished or satin)

The buckle is mostly used for our West End belt, but we also use them on our Bakers and Lined and Raised ranges

    Hi All,

I haven't posted any of our watch strap development work for a little while so i thought I'd share a photo or two of prototype Oak Brown watch strap made yesterday. This is made using hand stained oak bark tanned leather from Bakers of Colyton. It has a lovely grain pattern from the tanning process which is great in a belt but really special in something like a watch strap thats much more visible - the texture really catches your eye while its being worn. I'm a big fan of the hand colouring process Bakers use for this colour, every butt of leather and every strap that comes from it is unique because of the variation in tones and marking - lovely, proper artisan made leather. One or two wrinkles to work out but I think we'll make this into a formal product very shortly

Anyway, some photos on my plebeian but faithful strap testing Victorianox..

With my own 1 1/2" Oak Brown belt

More watch straps! This one is in Bakers Australian Nut, the same leather we used for the SF limited edition run last year. It makes a really nice, soft comfortable and flexible strap and is fully lined and hand stitched. We've done a lot of work on the mechanics of the design and we've got bot this and the Oak Brown down to about 3 - 3 1/2 mm thick which is spot on for a medium weight strap. We haven't got them on the website yet but they will be up here shortly.

Couple of photos - I think out would go beautifully with any of the Bakers Australian Nut belts..

    Hi All,

I thought I'd share some customer photos we've just received. This a black bridle leather strap with contrast white thread attached to the customers Chopard. The photos where very ably taken by Stefan L, the owner of the watch who is a better photographer than I am!

Just ordered two more belts. One black one in bridle leather and one russet bakers, both with brass buckles. I'm very excited for both.

They're great belts. The Bakers leather is substantially softer than the bridle leather. I'm eyeing the Bakers leather Scott, though it'll be awhile before I'll need another one. There just seems to be a lot of care put into each belt.

Thank you, I'm really glad you like them. Each belt is special as is each customer and we make each one with that in mind. Hopefully the end result is things people love and derive pleasure from owning - certainly thats what I intend when I'm designing or making.

One small note - both the Bakers and Sedgwick leather is bridle leather - the Bakers tanning process is different (oak bark tanning, much slower - at least a year in pits of water from the river Coly and oak bark from the Lake District) and produces much more flexible leather as a result. I suspect our rather random segregation of products on the website causes confusion!

As another aside, I'm trying to be good and keep our blog updated with things that at least I and I hope others into the detail of how things are made might be interested in..

Just received my first order: dark havanna, nickel west end (satin finish), 1.25" width. The belt is impressive. And being able to choose a specific hole distance (I chose 3/4 inches apart) is really great. Thanks Dawn & Charlie! [IMG] [IMG] [IMG]

I received my second Equus belt some days ago, a Baker in Oak Brown with Brass West End buckle. Absolutely beautiful belt in a lovely colour. Highly recommended!

Really glad you like the Oak Brown - I absolutely love it so am always pleased to hear others agree. Its really a rather special leather.

For those who haven't seen it there are a couple of pictures below. Its a great colour and its grain pattern is lovely.

    Hi All,

A quick picture of a watch strap just finished for a customer. This is a Red 22mm bridle leather strap with white stitching, dark red edges and a polished ARD buckle. Quite a bold combination and I thought I'd post it as a lot of our output is more conservative, so one for the extroverts!

The second photo is one of our Oak Brown straps on a Rolex Explorer II (I think). The colours are a little odd but I always think its interesting for people to be able to see action photos customers have taken themselves rather than the more formal pictures we tend to take..

A couple of action photos of the red strap above - I'm enjoying the fact our watch strap buyers send us photos! This is a red version of our bridle leather watch strap on a Baume & Mercier

    Hi All,

I thought I'd post our regular reminder that we have a permanent 10% discount coupon for Style Forum members and that non Europeans (lucky things) don't have to pay VAT. To get your discount use the coupon StyleForum10% when you checkout and 10% will be deducted from all the goods in your cart regardless of the amount. As soon as the website knows your outside the EU, i.e. you have registered and logged in the VAT will be deducted as well. I'm always here to help if you have any problems!

Some photos of our recent top sellers, all the recent photos seem to have been watch straps so we should redress the balance a little!

The Scott - a belt for all seasons and one of our biggest sellers. I own belts no 1 and 2 made and wear one or other everyday and love them. This is heavy weight 5mm leather in a mid to dark brown

The Oak Brown - great character and coloration for lighter coloured summer outfits! The is hand coloured oak bark tanned bridle leather and has a great grain pattern and colour variegation

Both belts actually have a strong StyleForum provenance - these are oak bark tanned leathers from Bakers of Colyton who we started working with way back when to make a SF limited edition belt. We send FOC samples of leather all over the world so if you want to see these leathers in person or any of the others we work with just let me know.
