Personally, I think the burgundy is more versatile than the saddle being a darker shoe. I have the saddle wingtip boot though which is beautiful and goes well blue wool and also with dark denim.

Any interest in a dark brown suede jodhpur boot with the cross strap and a brass (gold tone) buckle. Basically the same last and style as the midnight calf boot but in dark brown suede with a brass buckle instead of silver tone.

This is JL but essentially the style/color but in suede.

I'm down for a Jodphur boots like above in either dark brown / black (maybe even made with cordovan compared to calf) for a good Fall boots?

    Hey guys!

Apologies that I've been MIA on this thread for a little bit - catching up with all of our Fall goods that arrived. Here's things from my side:

Fantastic, glad that you like them! Thanks for picking them up.

The first three Carmina belts are in stock and online. Here's the links:

Carmina Snuff Suede Dress Belt: $175

Carmina Chocolate Calf Dress Belt: $175

Carmina Black Calf Dress Belt: $175

Burgundy Shell Steinbecks should be here around late October.

It's possible, but not that likely. Because Horween's on a separate continent, they've got pretty large minimums for leather. I was able to wrange the Natural and Brown CXL because we intend to do a bunch of makeups in that. Chamois doesn't have that same wide appeal, so it would be tough to commit to all of the leather required just to do the first run.

That said, it's entirely possible to find an equivalent, similar leather that's tanned in Europe. I like the hand and the feeling of Chamois very much, and I'm sure that they have access to a similar nubuck style leather.

Yup, it's already on order in Chocolate Calf. I believe it's coming around the end of September.

This would be rad. We could certainly do a makeup of a simple black wingtip. Want to punch it out a little bit? We could do black metal eyelets, a dark brown sole, a mid-panel in black scotchgrain...

That would be absolutely beautiful in chocolate suede. Cognac (dark brown) cordovan is tight for the rest of 2012, but we could kind of reverse the midnight calf concept and do a dark brown suede body with a chocolate calfskin strap and gold tone hardware.

That would be a smooth operator!

Mike, can you provide an estimate / more info about the above said Jodphur boots so that I can plan ahead before I spend my shoe fund on something else? :p

E.g (wait time, price, type of last etc)

EDIT: Just read that cordovan is low, but can we do calf instead of Suede for the main body? So like the exact as above (calf with suede straps)

I would be in on either… the all brown suede, or the suede with the calf strap… so long as the buckle's gold tone. Hopefully we can get some guys on board in time to see them before Spring…….

That brown suede jodphur would be awesome. I'd be in on it depending on when the preorder would be (cash flow is a bit tight, but fuck it shoos!).

Oh, and P.S. Mike, if you remember that guy in your shop a week or so ago talking about property/moving to NYC your advice was greatly appreciated. I close on a place this week in the West Village thanks to all your advice!!!

Quote: I can't answer if you'll prefer owning a saddle shell to a burgundy shell wingtip. However, if your fear is that it would be redundant in your rotation because you own a # 8, I wouldn't see that as a conflict. I personally find the burgundy shell used in the Carmina's to be very different than the # 8. It is a subtle color that doesn't get well represented in pictures (certainly online). I find that that the #8, at it's darkest, is more of an eggplant color and will highlight or patina to an alizarin crimson (sorta like red wine seen through light). The burgundy shell has a lot more warmth to the color - think of a burgundy but with more oakiness (orangey red), perhaps like an ale with a splash of red wine. Hope this helps.

I personally love the burgundy shell. I have the Carmina Steinbeck in burgundy on order.

I won't speak for everyone but Black metal eyelets and a mid-panel in black scotch grain sounds great. I'm not so sold on a dark brown sole, but that's just me. As for the jodhpurs, I'm gonna need you to stop coming up with such incredible shoe concepts before my bank account anthropomorphizes and comes to strangle you in your sleep. No one wants to see that.

The brown Jodhpur sounds great, and I'd be interested in either combo (suede or calf), but I'd definitely prefer to see this on the Forest last instead of the Rain. Just my two cents.
A black shell boot could be killer, but I've never liked the look of shell creases on a wingtip. Still, I'd gladly eyeball the mockup.

Keep the good stuff coming, Mike!
