Was it six for the boot as well?

There appears to be quorum on the last with the Forest.

I had originally wanted this boot to be made on the Forest last and I'm glad the idea resurfaced. In the most recent poll I voted for the dainite combo sole, but I would be perfectly fine with a leather sole.

It's a little bit of a mixed bag, since not everyone who is in favor of chestnut has the same opinions on sole or last:

Chestnut Dainite Combo Sole Forest (Medium and Wide widths available)
Chestnut Leather Forest (Medium and Wide widths available)
Chestnut Leather Forest (Medium and Wide widths available)
Chestnut Leather Forest (Medium and Wide widths available)
Chestnut Leather Rain (Narrow, Medium, and Wide widths available)
Chestnut Leather Robert (Medium width only)
Chestnut Dainite Combo Sole Robert (Medium width only)
Chestnut Dainite Combo Sole Robert (Medium width only)

So we need at least two more for the Forest last. I think the Rain last selection was based on the need for a narrow fitting, which means neither the Robert or Forest will likely work in that case, which is why I've crossed it out.

One advantage of the Forest is that it is the last on which Epaulet sells its Carmina short wing, meaning Mike knows how it sizes.

As for the sole, it looks like both rmspawn and I can be happy either way, so that can give us four for a leather sole against three for the Dainite Combo. Of course, if sole is the only remaining variable, then we might be able to offer either option and hope that each picks up the requisite numbers to proceed with an order. That's really up to Mike, and my guess is that he'll want a single makeup to offer for preorder.

With all this in mind, I propose that we pass the following makeup to Mike and see what happens:

Epaulet x Carmina Shell Cordovan Balmoral Boot

    • Chestnut
    • Quarter brogue (punched cap toe)
    • Forest last (allowing medium and wide fittings)
    • Speed hooks
    • Light antique edge trim
    • Closed/flat welt
    • Leather sole

Is anyone interested in a pull tab on the back or a colored leather lining (green was most recently suggested)?

I'm game for that combination and green leather lining sounds like an interesting feature.

I'd be game if this was a fall delivery. I just can't swing a $1k purchase by May. It's not enough time for me to save up the extra cash.

Are we on for a quarter brogue or a semi (half) brogue? I would prefer a semi brogue but can get on board with a quarter brogue if the majority agrees.

Except for the upper material, this may help give you an overall idea of the boot: Carmina currently offers a rtw suede quarter brogue bal boot w/ speed hooks and half rubber sole on the Forest last.

Asking again, and will probably repeat. Do the guys who voted for Saddle want to get together to see if we can place an order? Needs sxi I believe....

Yup, that's basically it. Difference is the shell, the full leather sole (if we go that direction), and the antique edge trim (which I believe will be lighter than what's shown here).

Never know. May still work out for you.

We've been talking quarter brogue, that is a punched cap toe. Like the one pictured above.

Again, not sure how willing Mike is to put the preorder up with two choices, in this case saddle versus chestnut shell. He does offer the stock double monks in three colors, so maybe he'd be willing to do this. Assume he will check in here at some point, but I'll send him a PM to see if we can't get things moving.

PM sent. Asked about possibility of offering a choice of sole within the makeup, his thoughts on offering perorders in both Saddle and Chestnut (with the minimum applied to each), and his input on a pull tab as shown above. Thought we might as well ask. All he can say is no and no, in the first two cases, right?;)

I'm on the saddle train, but I could go with that. Assuming that the lighter color is indeed saddle.

Or the inverse - light top and dark bottom - could also work.
