And thus ends my loyalty to Epaulet...

The Valencia corridor between 15th and 18th is turning into quite the clothing strip. Self Edge and Freeman's Sporting Club are almost across the street from each other with Taylor Stitch a few blocks north next to Four Barrel Coffee (the best).

...also not the mention the fact that the Epaulet club collar is a much better design; higher collar band, more classic rounded shape, etc. The Ervell has its place and is great on some guys but doesn't work for me.

I bought the Red club collar oxford way back when. It was my first Epaulet purchase and I still love it. I'm kicking myself over the fact that I threw it in the dryer once, when I first got it, because I misjudged the measurements and thought it would fit better if it shrunk a little. Now the collar is just a little too tight and the arms are just a little too short. I still wear it casually all the time, but I would love to grab a couple of club collars that I could comfortably wear with a suit & tie.

All my other shirts are MTM from Moderntailor and their club collar is wack. It's way too large and there is no tie space. The Epaulet one nails it. I'll second your motion because I'd love to see more.

And while we're wishing out loud, I'll ask for one in a white/blue university stripe and french cuffs.

Another all-Epaulet day. When I saw the top photo I realised that a black belt might have been better. I've gotten into the habit of assuming that the natural chromexcel belt will always work.

I'm normally a Rudy guy, but as an experiment I got these Emerald twill trousers in the Walt fit, and then had them let out in the thighs. I think it pretty much worked. My tailor just opened up the inseam a little. It isn't visible.

I think black or the natty looks good with this.

As for club collars, I believe the green gingham is a club collar shirt, is that sold out?

Haha. And yes, to be serious, I would definitely look to open up in the Self Edge / Freeman's area. We sit very nicely next to Self Edge NY here on the Lower East Side, so being close to them in SF makes sense as well. I love that neighborhood.

In the meantime, we were really inspired by the Styleforum event in May. I'm planning to do a Los Angeles trunk show in mid-September. We're going to rent out a suite downtown, bring a minimal amount of try-on merchandise, and stay open for an entire Saturday to meet people and take orders. First-time customers can try on our stuff, you'll be able to order MTO shoes, jackets, suits, and pants, and we'll have some other exclusive products just for the event. Drinks and snacks will be on hand, so guys can hang out as long as they like.

And you bet your ass that they'll be a HUGE karaoke party that night in the Little Tokyo shopping plaza. I want to put this together as a regular concept that we can take to Chicago, Portland, DC, Boston, and all of the other cities where we have a strong following. I'm personally in our shops four days a week because meeting customers is one of the main joys of my job. Being able to do this on a local level would be really ace.

I'm completely down with this. We've got a club collar shirt in our lineup now:

We could surely run this in oxford cloth in the Fall. I've got a new source for solid oxford in off-kilter colors like maroon and salt/pepper as well. What do you guys think of a buttondown club collar? I always stayed away from it because most shirts on the market like that come off a little forced. But we tried that collar with Ashland, and it was briliant. It's especially nice under a cardigan. Would a buttondown club sate your desires for an Epaulet club oxford?

Haha, he really let loose with that one.

Wow, those trousers look great! You're really owning that color.

Button down club collar -- sign me up, esp in off-kilter colors. Wearing my ervell club collar right now- would definitely be open to the EP improvement.

    Oh, man!

Please tell me this is planned for ANYTIME AFTER SEPTEMBER 10th! My girlfriend and I will be in Europe the first part of September and I'd hate to miss this. By mid-September, you mean the weekend of the 15th, right? ...right?! [IMG]

Also don't hesitate to get in touch with me if I can help in any way. If you need a "man on the ground" to coordinate or check on anything ahead of time, just let me know. I can volunteer the rooftop of my building for any point during the weekend where you've got any dead time (earlier in the night prior to karaoke?); good for ~20 people, w/ BBQ & outdoor bar area and fantastic views all around (esp. of the Eastern Bldg) and we're directly above LA Brewing Co. Any questions about places/spaces downtown, let me know. I'm guessing if you're talking about renting a suite, you're probably thinking of the Biltmore? Anyway, I really hope the timing on this works.
Yeah, this is an excellent idea because it would maintain the club collar's look when unbuttoned. The non-BD version can look a little floppy when unbuttoned, so adding collar buttons would really tighten it up. I thought it looked cool on the Ashland but since those have smaller collars, space became a little cramped. On the Epaulet version, it'll leave more space for a normal-sized tie to still legitimately fit between the buttons and the top of the collar.

I wouldn't be as in to darker colors like maroon or salt/pepper though, because obviously I'd still want to wear it with a suit & tie on occasion so lighter colors are going to be more versatile in that regard.
