Rivets look great, NYR, and that's a heck of a tie. Can't wait to see the colors these come in.

What do you guess the inseam is on these the way you wear them?

Thanks, I'd say these are close to 31" as is in this pic (rolled 3 times)

Really? I liked this today. The light was all from behind in this shot, the color is far more saturated irl on the pants.

Damn...so many great chinos to pick from, I'm sure I'll be getting multiples of each style.

Same here, I'm a Rudy guy and I sized up from 33 to 34 for a perfect fit.

    Killer look as usual

I just can't get on board with the new rivets... too baggy looking.

It just feels like there's too much going on, color-wise. I feel like if you're going to wear fuck-you pants like those (and I love those pants, bought a pair of coral red chino on the weekend), the rest of the outfit needs to be subdued. And a contrast-collared short sleeve shirt (I hate contrast collars) with a tie takes it too far for me. Without the tie and the shirt neck unbuttoned, could be decent.

I have to agree. On a daily basis I'm impressed with NYR's ability to incorporate bold colours yet still look totally masculin and relaxed. Todays look is just not my cup of tea. I too, cannot stand contrast collar shirts (mainly, i dislike them on me. others can pull them off and make them look fine), but the combination of the tie and the hat just takes it too out there for me. At least your fit is on point. I can appreciate well fitting and well put together clothing. I just dont happen to like this look all that much.

I have to agree that from the pics we've seen the last couple days on these new 7oz'ers, they do appear to be slightly baggier than the previous selection of rivets. I wish there was a little more taper from the knee-cap down. Not significantly more tapered. I love how my very affordable dockers alphas have a relaxed seat, mid-rise and somewhat significant taper from the knee-cap down. Id take my Rivets in just slightly, but only if my tailer could maintain the white herringbone stripe. It's too unique to have him mess that up.

Mike, I pm'd matt, but I'm wondering, you mentioned earlier today that you expect the restocked Duck Canvas (10oz) in the various colour soon. Any chance you ordered more 36's than last time. Matt had mentioned there was only 1 size 36 in the last batch. He also said you wont be taking reserves anymore since so many of us missed out last time. Im hoping that given that I check this thread daily, or multi-daily that I won't miss out on the french blues and caramels this go around. Serious FOMO the last couple months. As well, I'll be in NYC (live in toronto) on Saturday Apr. 28, and sunday the 29th. Definitely gonna stop in for my first in-store visit! Might even have a purchase or two to pick up :D

Don't be too quick to judge the new rivet fit based on my last few pics. I have a pretty large ass (mentioned this before) and in order to fit into these I have to size up in the waist. I think if you guys grabbed your old rivet size, these would be exactly the same, with just a touch more room up top (in a good way). I also plan on having mine washed and tailored this week now that they've gotten one wear each (the orange may need a nip in the waist, and both will get hemmed) so once thats done you'll see the same rivet fit you've become used to. The sloppy bottoms may have thrown off the silhouette just a touch, especially in yesterday's fit.

Honestly, probably not. In order to offer the chinos at the price that we do, I have to make a lot of production in that one fit. I have more flexibility with the Walt/Rudy, and I can offer a wider range of different fabrics there (cotton, linen, wool, etc).

Not to say that there won't be some wool and some totally insane Rivet Chinos coming in the Fall. There certainly will be

But, as Beatlegeuse pointed out, we have plenty of Rudy customers who size up one inch for the leg fit and then have the waist taken in a bit. It works really well. You can definitely try it with a basic, easy color and see how you like the outcome. I've got dozens of guys who do this regularly now that the Rivet Chinos have a split waistband that can be easily tailored.

I totally respect everyone's different preferences for fit. One man's too-tight is another man's perfect fit. But I do want to point out that the new rivets aren't significantly larger than before. It's really just a half-inch in the waist and a tiny bit in the seat. The legs and all of the other dimensions are still the same. And the "new" rivet is actually a touch smaller than the "original" rivets with the metal buttons. I actually think that these fit NYR nicely - especially for a lightweight, warm-weather piece.

I need to post up a photo of Adele in our trousers soon. She owns both the Rivet Chinos and the Walts. If anyone out there really wants a very slim and highly tapered pant, it's entirely possible to do that with both models. Adele successfully turned both shapes into very slim women's cigarette pants, and the tailoring ran in the neighborhood of 20 bucks (YMMV). The Walt legs can be tapered on both sides, and the Rivets can be tapered on the inseam to preserve the interior outseam taping.

I've had some customers come in with radically slimmed up Epaulet pants before, and it looks pretty bad-ass.

Yes, I'm pretty sure that they will be. And I dig the matching hat and contrast collar!

Only 1 size 36 usually? Say it ain't so! I'm still hoping the Desert Duck will get a restock that includes a 36 (I got a Caramel 36 last time... sorry, dgnosh!).

it was my own fault. i had a 36 in caramel in my cart way back when the first batch was stocked a few months back. that was back when there were no fit pics from NYR or anyone, so I lingered in my cart for the day. That night, come purchase time, they were gone. I was so upset. Tried to get in on the reserve list for the second batch but theyd all been spoken for. Thats when Matt told me theyd only received 1 36 that hadnt been accounted for in reserves. Good things come to those who wait I guess. Too bad I missed out on late-winter, early spring weather when the ducks would be a perfect wait. Id consider the caramels or french blues in the 7oz, but I already think my gunmetal canvas rivets are as thin as id like to go in a khaki. so Id prefer the heavier weight ducks.
