They're both excellent. The cashmere blend trousers are dressier, and could be worn as a 3-season pant or year round depending on where you live. I like the Oxford Grey Flannels very much. The hand on the fabric is incredible. Warm and breathable. Obviously you would be hard pressed to wear them in the summer. A win-win choice. Think of it this way: If you showed up at a wedding in a Caine sportcoat and the grey cashmere blend trousers, you would look incredibly sleek, especially with dub monks or an open shirt. If you showed up in a Caine sportcoat and the grey flannels, you'd look more rugged, but refined -- a natural match for a raw silk or wool tie, or something with some texture.

If you showed up at a wedding in either, no one would be able to stop talking about your pants. Get them both.

Honestly this is the best advice, and the most often choice of mine, despite the protests of my wallet.

The hand on the wool/cashmere is ridiculously smooth; I haven't felt the fabric on the flannels. If you're looking for something more formal, go with the cashmere; if versatility is what you're after, pick up the flannel.

Does one pair fill more of a gap in your wardrobe than the other?

NYR your shell jumpers and cargo flannels appear to get a fair amount of wear.

2". Love the Bill the Butcher. "If only I had the guns, Mr. Tweed, I'd shoot each and every one of them before they set foot on American soil. " Classic line.

These aren't the Jumpers, these are a Cordovan #8 Captoe, on the Modified last. I'm wearing the Jumpers so much to get em nice and dinged, and this summer I'm sending em to BNelson to have a resole done with antique edge. Should look cool with well worn #8. The Flannels, I just like em!

Very unobservant of me! Is that #8 captoe different from Shoemart's grant last version? I just have never seen much cordovan on the modified.

On Epaulet talk, is your turtleneck the Ferrante Epaulet black turtleneck from this fall? Looks ace.

The only grey trousers I own at the monent are the Super 120s Medium Grey and a pair of Theory dress Charcoal trousers.

I am thinking that the flannels are more in line with what I need....something that can be dressed up or down.

Sounds like a good choice to me. I have the medium grey Super 120s as well, so when I picked up the cashmere I went with navy. If your heart's set on grey, go flannel.

NYR, how long did it take you to grow that beard? That is a thing of beauty.

    Thanks K, 5,00, I'm such a loser! LOL

I got them on B&S, the modified last is fantastic, so comfortable, I'm not sure about the Grant from Shoemart though. Sweater is JCrew, Navy blue...I've yet to break my Epaulet sweater cherry but thats not gonna last much longer!

Thanks man, been growing since the end of May. I trimmed down the cheeks once in July, but other than around the ears, nothing else has been trimmed.

The new shetland cardigans should be the ones to do it. They are excellent.
