Man, I need to find that Scott vest or the gant one. Probably need a large (which Mike is sold out of unfortunately).
Penfield is also making a similar one this year. There's a really great green tweed version with leather shoulders.
Thoughts on service pants?
Absolutely right I still want to get it. Being a self indulgent person, I usually have no issue with coming up with justification for clothing purchases that make no sense. On this one, I just can't. Perhaps I will try to sell the Brooks Brothers jacket next week on B&S. If I'm successful, then yup, I'm on it. Question for you though, how much if any did you have the waist tapered on yours? I had to have the waist (and considered the sleeves) brought in on the gray suit coat a fair bit.
None. It was a perfect fit OTR.
I don't think I could have ever said that about anything before I found Epaulet, either.
+1. On the photos of the historical documents from NYR. Must have been something to see that in person.
Wow and good for you! The 38 was a fantastic fit for me everywhere except the shoulders. The 40 fits great in the shoulders but needed a bit of work here and there. Think the 40 short with a little waist suppression would be a good fit and yeah, will jump on it sometime soon...i just know how I am.
Managgia L'America Rob.
Damned solid! I work downtown Rob. We gotta get together for some winter whiskey.
Any chance on a XS restock of the point collar white Oxford?
did the denim ever go on sale last week? i've been checking the sale section but haven't seen them posted.
Not yet! Mike and his crew are still busy checking their inventories. Stay tuned for updates by Mike
On a separate note, I just received my olive guncheck walt after getting my friend to help me pick it up from NY, it is simply awesome!
I think they're cool...same basic rivet fit, extra pocket. The flaps make having a bulky wallet tricky for your back pocket, but other than that its something just a little different.
LOL. I was with 35 12 year olds, I think they'd cramp our style a bit. But I will be heading down there for some personal research at some point next few months (maybe over the February vacation), I'll let you know.
Getting the shoulders to fit is crucial, as you (generally) cannot alter that in tailored clothing. The 38R in the Southwick stuff fits me perfect OTR. For the Gant Bastian herringbone tweed SC, I had to size down to a 36 and get the body taken out, as the 36 had the correct shoulder fit for me. Tailoring is very much worth it.
Agreed 100%. The emphasis that Mike places on a consistent, solid fit is just as welcome as his emphasis on quality construction and fabric.
Just grabbed the Twill Gingham Shirt in Dark Grape
