Yeah, it's getting pretty ridiculous, actually. The fit is just so dialed in for me that I just grab a handful of them when a new batch comes out, walk down the street to my friendly neighborhood lady at the drycleaner (helps that I live only a few blocks from the Brooklyn location), and without even trying them on or saying two words to her (well, I do say Thank You), she hems them to my exact inseam/outseam measurement, and the next day I'm wearing the new stuff to work.

Think I might throw her off this time with some cuffs, though.

Trying to decide between the Navy Poplins and the Washed Red Pima Cotton Walts.
I am just not sure if I can pull of the red joints. They almost appear to be pink to me.
Navy may be the safer choice.

No, shut up. Get the pink pants. Yes, obviously they are pink. Don't mince words; own it. This is THE "go to hell" color for a reason.

Yeah, that's a great idea. I'd buy one.

Mike - are the new stone chino trousers the same wait as the rivet chinos? 12oz?

Moleskin makes a nice sportcoat. I tried on one by Billy Reid last year that I really liked -- just didn't fit me well enough.

Unfortunately not at the moment. Both of these were limited deadstock fabrics, so I could only cut them in Walt. But we'll do a reorder soon, and I'll see if I can get something along the lines of the Poplin at least.

Yup, we actually got four shorts today:
1. Navy/Bronze Madras restock
2. Navy Seersucker (white base with navy stripes)
3. Khaki Poplin
4. Pastel Patchwork Madras

The Pastel Patchwork is inexplicably good. It's a proper deadstock Indian madras too. Soft as a baby's bottom. I'll get these shot over the weekend and we'll post 'em up early next week.

/hyping a f/w piece just in time for summer

Ooph, that would be really nice. I LOVE moleskin sportcoats. Probably won't happen this Fall as I already bought all my fabrics, but definitely a consideration for the future.

It's going to be a slim cargo model - just on pocket on the left leg and flap pockets in the rear. The pocket design is a repro of a British army pant from the 70's. But the fit is identical to our other Rivet Chinos, so the sizing is easy.

Amazing stuff. Gotta get over to trying some shirts on one of these days to branch out, I think.

One question before I indulge - it looks like it, but is the fabric on the washed red trousers sturdier than the Cotton Poplin Bordeaux ones?

Absolutely, it's a whole world away from the Poplin Bordeaux. And so is the Navy Poplin.

The Bordeaux and French Blue were cool as uber-casual Summer pants, but they are extremely lightweight. All of the fabrics that we're using now are still very breathable, but they're much sturdier.

Hmm, that's a tough one.

It's impossible to convey in photos, but the Navy Poplins are REALLY nice in person. I sold four pairs in our Manhattan store yesterday - and that was straight out of the box. They look basic, but the fabric hand and drape is really phenomenal. You'll definitely get a lot of wear out of them.

That said, the Washed Red is freaking dope. It is actually a bit pinkish in person. But that's the cool part. It's this bold, "go to hell" preppie staple done in a really slim and tailored - almost British fit. Dope.

I've used this phrase before, but these Washed Red pants are literally a middle finger to boring people. You could rock them hard as hell!

They're close. Honestly, I'm not sure of the exact weight, but I'd guess it to be around 10oz or so. They feel a bit lighter than the 12oz chinos. But it's s sturdy British cloth that holds a crease hysterically well if you want to press it out and wear it biz-caz.

I dragged my hungover, disheveled, and late-for-a-flight ass by Epaulet last weekend and was able to check out the fabric swatches for the summer trousers and shorts. Amazing. The natural linen and "washed reds" (is Nantucket Red a trademarked term or something?) were particularly drool-worthy. I'm not a shorts guy, but if the madras had been made into pants I'd have instantly picked up a pair of each.

Too bad - hope something can happen with the re-stock. I know the Walts pay the bils, but there have been so many terrific fabrics that I would love to have in my closet in Rudys - chocolate flannel, chocolate cords, burnt umber tweed, navy poplin, cavalry twill,... - that were Walt-only. Thanks for the response though, and hope to see more great Rudy fabrics in the future.

why yes

I can.

I have the RRL chinos -- this year's version, not the limited edition from last year. I also had the EP Rivet Chinos in Navy. The RRLs are heavier and are done in a selvedge fabric. The EPs are slimmer and lighter, although that may not be the case with the heavyweight version. I do not have exact measurements and you should trust the measurements on the Epaulet website.

Please do tell more about the rivet chino shorts. Will they be the same in every respect, just cut to shorts? Will they include the button fly closure and canvas tape if I were to cuff?

If so, sign me up in every color. Can't wait. When can we expect these?

Sure, they'll have the same top block as the Rivet Chino. Slim, tailored fit and a 9.5" inseam that will put it at the knee or slightly above for most guys. They'll definitely have the riveted button fly.

Not sure about the seam taping yet. Shorts are a crazy thing. Making them costs almost as much as making the full chino, but most customers (myself included) expect to pay significantly less for shorts. Doing away with the seam taping will save a considerable amount, so I might do it so we can get the retail price to $110 for them. I'll see how it prices out. We should get them in about 4 weeks or so.

Thanks!

hmmm i understand your dilemma and wanting to keep the price low

just my .02, but the reason i love your rivet chinos is obviously the fit but also the small differentiating details, including that seam tape. having that shown when the chinos are cuffed are great and would be perfect when cuffing the shorts.

obviously if keeping the tape raises the price substantially then you gotta do what you gotta do
