Not where I thought I'd be, but here I am at 45, trying to stay both in shape and slightly crazy. Both are very important. Dress better than my friends. Drink more. Run more. Go hard. Flirt. Spill things. Play music. Hunt and fish. Write. Avoid golf and all its entanglements. That's pretty much my plan.

a funny thing when they start being intelligible is that they (at least for us, but i have observed same w/ others) seem to always speak at the same time & to the same person. parents kindof get used to it, but always funny to see stranger/friend ask them 'are you twins?', 'how old are you?', etc., and they both start babbling away in stereo. they start off on track answering the question so it's not too bad keeping following the flow, but they quickly diverge onto different topics and the verbal mayhem is overwhelming...

Maybe. IDK there are just some things in my life that I think will keep me from truly being happy. I'm optimistic things will change but I'm not sure if they will.

Wow, this thread makes me depressed. I had set some very basic goals. I had hoped to get married, buy my first house, have kids, and start "enjoying life" as you put it starting at about age 50. As 35 is rapidly approaching, it looks like I'm WAY off the mark. ****.

There's not necessarily a dichotomy there. I know fully well that I am the kinda guy who doesn't mind delayed gratification whatsoever, but I'm still having a damn good time and loving my life right now.

I'm with him on this; my life couldn't be more full of work. Compared to last year, i'm doing about twice the work and have lost a good 10-15 pounds of muscle and even was in a stressful relationship up until about a month ago. I read the book Happier by Tal Ben-Shahar after it was recommended to me and I firmly believe that this helped bridge the gap between the life of delayed gratification and day-to-day happiness.

Business/achievement wise men don't get things going (for the most part) until they are 40 or older. 40 to 55 is when things happen, in part because men that age spend less time chasing skirts. Now whether the cause of that is less desire, or inability to catch them is not for discussion here.

But I got a ton of p*ssy from18 to 35... and much less now that I'm older than that. On the achievement side it's the inverse of that.

As for enjoying, you enjoy different things.

But don't delay everything for later gratification. There are some things you can do in your 20's and 30's that you can't when you are 40, 50, etc.. (e.g. Go to a college club and drink and flirt with college girls).

Guys, LOLOLOL if you think you're having the good life. vox is in an obscure private cove in the Carribean swimming with dolphins and eating their babies. And that's just a normal casual friday right there.

Aside from cocktails, a magnum of Bollinger Rose NV Champagne.

Quite a nice sunset as well.

I just can't get aboard the checklist/race thing that most people get into, sooner or later. It is quite obviously at work in this thread, almost like you guys forget that nio matter how fast you go you still end up at the same place.

It's not about the destination, it's about the journey

So you have no goals or ambitions just because it makes no difference? If I were you I'd end my life right now if it doesn't matter at all...

I have no long term goals or ambitions. I feel fine right now and mostly enjoy life because of very simple things (say drinking my coffee and smoking a cigarette on my balcony with the sun in my face).

I enjoy those moments very much, just this evening I was fishing in the sun from the dock at my house. I felt great, but still there are so many things I want to see and enjoy.

One of my greatest ambitions is to fly around in the world in a Cessna type airplane. Because you have to make numerous stops and fly pretty low it is one of the things I definitely want to do. It gives you the chance to see pretty much everything you'd want to.

I realize it will take a lot of time and money. So i'm preparing for it already. Especially in terms of experience. So I'm making my hours now, and planning on taking longer and longer trips.

With a goal like this, it doesn't matter whether or not you fulfill it. You'll have a lot of fun along the way. And since we all end up in the same place, it's not a bad idea to base your life around the idea of having fun.
