For Fall/Winter 2018 there is a special section in the Engineered Garments line up dedicated to Black and Red. Are there two colors that inspire more creativity and passion than Black and Red? Mark Rothko, Barbara Kruger, Russian Socialism, Workers, Revolutions, Iron Maiden, Talking Heads Remain in Light, Kraftwerk Man Machine, A.C. Milan, Air Jordan, The Red Room (SF), Red Shoes, Agnes B Stripes and of course The Red & The Black by Stendhal. Two colors that always bring something to mind, but rarely the same thing twice. While working with Woolrich this time around—after a 15 plus year relationship with the mill, we chose the famous buffalo plaid as our starting point. Classic Americana, with a wink and a nod to outdoor sports, it was time to go back to where Engineered Garments started from but this time around blowing up the check and creating something thoroughly new and abstract, with a modern sensibility.
The balance of the collection, it's classics that are the focus. Materials come first: Grey Homespun Wool, Flannel Cottons, Brown Duck Canvas, Corduroy and one of our new favorites, Double Cloth Cotton Sateen. All with a dry hand, robust fabrics deep and authentic that feel modem again in a time when fashion has moved on. Our elements remain Military, Workwear, Sportswear always, Streetwear for authenticity, unconstructed Setups and Ethnic Influences. Mixed and layered, remaining true as ever, as Engineered Garments.
