I have been invited to my friends flatmates engagement party. i have only met the guy once before, and the party isn't anything fancy, just a few people in their apartment. he's only fairly young (24-25 maybe) and wouldn't expect anthing really expensive. i'm thinking to just an average (£20ish) bottle of wine or something, and a card to say congratulations. is this acceptable, or should i really think of a 'proper' gift?

as i say, i've only met the guy once at last newyears, but he seemed like a nice chap.

i am only a student so i'm not in the position to spend loads really..so would the bottle be okay?

thanks

Sure. Keep well within your budget. You don't even know if this couple will make it to the altar. I've spent way too much money on wedding gifts, throughout my life; at least half these couples are now divorced. I should have stuck with hand mixers.
