How might you get this stuff done from other than the manufacturer? They outsource it anway, so I figure it might be cheaper to have it done yourself.

One of the more ostentatious embossings I've seen was on the Duke of Windsor's T.Anthony luggage.

The tan colored leather was embossed in gold, "The Duke of Windsor", and the same was true for his wife's, "The Duchess of Windsor".

I've seen dozens--usually discreet letters (about 3/8" high) in gold near the snap closure or just below where the top flap ends on the front side.

I'm not much for monogramming, but I think embossed initials on a briefcase (gold on larger luggage) adds a nice touch.

Any decent luggage shop should be able to do it, just make sure they're careful not to press so hard as to leave an outline of the letter blocks.

Futura is a great font. It's my second favorite behind Neutra. Not that there's an ocean of difference between the two.

I avoid personalizing stuff like that. It reduces the resale value by 50%.

That would depend on the provenance; The Duke of Windsor's monogrammed bag would fetch a much higher price at auction than the same bag sans monogram.

Too bad I bear no resemblance to the Duke of Windor...or any duke!
