Electronic-Cigarettes?

Hello!

I've read a few articles about these new e-cigarattes -- plastic cylinders with computerized vaporization systems, which supply airborne molecules of nicotine upon inhalation -- and wondered whether they - and which brands - are any good, in terms of being satisfying in flavor, sensation, and aesthetic. I take tobacco basically every other way besides cigarettes, but I was considering buying one of these for a relative who is developing respiratory problems due to smoking regular cigarettes - and has been unable to quit after years of attempts.

Thanks!

Here's a link, in case you're curious:

Ha! That's both awesome and sad at the same time. One of those things I wish I'd thought of.

F*ck me, did you see the list of chemicals in the "Substance" column? Why would anybody want to smoke that ****?

I mean benzyl benzoate? Hexyl hexanoate? Not exactly flavor country.

Can't access that site at the moment, but is this just a vape system? Handheld version? If so, the potheads have had vaporizing pipes and bongs for a little while.

I prefer rolling my own cigarettes and smoking with fire. I can't imagine the 'e-cig' having anywhere near the same experience.

Hello!

Well, as I understand it, it is not vaporizing tobacco - rather, it is vaporizing a nicotine solution that also contains various flavoring, preservative, and smoke-producing additives. The point of the device is, on the one hand, to deliver nicotine without the combustion of tobacco, which is the source of carcinogens, and, on the other hand, to allow cigarette smokers to approximate the aesthetic and sensation of their habit while in "no smoking allowed" locations, as the vapors produced are entirely free of odor or solid particles.

I would never dream of calling it an alternative to real smoking, but I was curious whether anyone here - that is to say, people with taste and style who have presumably smoked the better brands of tobacco - had used it and found it at least satisfying.

Those look pretty interesting.

I've used a nicotine inhaler before when I was trying to quit smoking (and succeeded...for about a year), but it looked kinda dorky, and the lack of "smoke" left me less than satisfied.

This looks like it could sort of solve those issues, and I would imagine that the vaporizing action would make for an easier draw (another problem the nicotine inhalers had).

I'm of the opinion that if you don't enjoy the overall experience and rituals associated with smoking and are just out for a nicotine fix you should just quit so I don't get those.

Bump.

I'm really looking buying one of these. Has anyone tried them? If so, what brands?

Hey--check out malls for these if you want to try them. I got badgered by a kiosk salesman about it and my friend suggested I stop because I was trying to stop smoking at the time. Be aware--the contraption itself costs like 125-150 dollars

This is awesome, but not for an alternative to cigarettes for the reasons Fuuma said. However, I'm immediately going to work on a THC extraction process and chemical solution for covert pot smoking
