Electric shaver

Some of you may remember when I was asking about electric shavers a few months ago. Well, I ending up getting one: the Braun Twin Control 4605. I have one question, though. There are two settings: on and trim. When I click it onto "trim," an extra part flips out, but the foils still work. Should I just ignore the foils still buzzing and use the new part to (obviously) trim my facial hair? I'm not exactly sure if it's supposed to be used by itself or in conjuction with the foils. Just wondering, thanks.

My Braun does the same thing. Just ignore the foils.
