For a really close shave, I will shave, wash my face in almost hot water and then shave again. This seems to work for me.

Have you tried just washing your face with hot water prior to shaving the first time? It's supposed to soften up your hair or something so you can get a closer shave.

I use an electric (Norelco, something or other). I've always had good luck with it, and I have less of a shadow with the electric than I do with a blade.

BTW, Quill, you're going to look back on those horrible, horrible puns one day and say "Good lord, what was I thinking? I should be CUT." hahahahahahaha

Brian, forgot to say that I do "soften" the hair prior to shaving the first time. I even tried various products over the years, all with no success. The "double" shaving technique works the best for me.

Thanks for the shaving advice. Guess it's not so bad to be in hot water from time to time. (Lord knows I'm trying to stop

[quote Maybe I'm not doing it right. Or not using the right pre-shave or model. Anybody have any good/bad experiences with electric razors?

I use a Braun Contour 5775 (foil-type) that I'm happy with, however I have to prep in order to get my usual amazing results.
I splash on pre-electric shave, I use a shaver cleaning brush that I order from Eltron to clean (poke gunk out of foil holes) the head, I spray the head with Eltron Shave Ease, I gently run the shaver over my face again and again, feeling with my hand, until my face is as clean as an android's bottom, about 8 minutes. Then I shower and the rest is history. No 5 o'clock shadow, either. I have to do it everyday, of course.
