There have been quite a few threads commenting on the candidates' choice of businesswear on the trail. I thought perhaps we could do one thread for comparison.

I was inspired to do this by some photos of Wanna-Be Second Gentleman Todd Palin. I understand that Alaska doesn't exactly have a Nordstrom or Brooks Bros on every corner, but this guy has been in the public eye for many years...you'd think Sarah's handlers or he himself would have figured by now that he might want to buy suits at a shop that doesn't also sell tractors:

Looks like you could fit an Alaskan pipeline between his neck and shirt collar.

One-up on Obama who won't put the American flag on his lapel or airplane.

I believe US Code Title 36, Chapter 10, §176(D) would prohibit the above, if true, anyway, so let's not get too excited here. I'm hoping that's Photoshop.

"The flag should never be used as wearing apparel, bedding, or drapery...."

I'm never too pleased when musicians or actors take to this type of thing either. The scoped rifle is a nice touch, though.

I hope that's a PS job also -- too many very disturbing things, the Flag most notably. It's an air rifle, I'm pretty sure. Who shoots from the pool?

Adding insult to injury, as I was wathcing Nightline last night I noted that he buttoned the bottom button of his jacket. This is like a sitcom about a hick family taking over the White House.

So far the best political suit I have seen this year is the one Clinton wore for his convention speech.

Looks like a Republican operative got Jeff Palin into a much better-fitting, higher-quality suit for tonight. I thought it was interesting to note that while he tied a simple 4-in-hand his 19 year-old son had a pretty sophisticated Full Windsor...where does a kid that age pick that up if not from his own father-unless he got dressed by someone else.

And damn, did you all notice that the idiot kid who knocked the daughter up was CHEWING GUM when they all went out on stage together?

PS I have seen better oral interpretation and speech skills by high school students. Sarah, go back to the sticks.
