Eidos Navy/White bicolored knit tie: great for summer (good for the tall!)

Eidos bicolored knit tie. Worn twice. Original owner. Great Knit.

Tie is 2.75 inches by 64.5 inches.

It is long. Antonio, the designer behind Eidos, has stated in the Eidos thread that he makes his ties to be tied by a double four in hand, hence the length. I usually take 59 inches long ties and am able to wear this with a four in hand, just.

Edit: Ok, tied a DFIH, which leaves about 2-3 inch separation between the blades (i.e. standard), depending on how you tie it. The knot is fine, seemingly no bigger than a single FIH. Note that I tie DFIH by cinching the first loop rather than passing the blade under two loops (if that make's sense). In my hands, DFIH and FIH knots look the same. In this case, it helps keep the knot small.

Soft knit, flat bottom. I'm in a one tie in/one out stage so letting go of some summer ties.

Length can be gleaned from this full length shot (tied with a FIH, back blade same length as front, so can be done without DFIH, my tie lengths typically 58-60inches). I'm just at 6 feet tall.

I like this tie a lot, but I've decided I prefer pointed knits. Only reason I'm letting it go. If you have concerns about length, PM me. It works fine with FIH, but that will vary depending on your height.

This is a great tie! My point of consideration is its length, me being shorter than you at 1.79m (5'10 - 5'11 ft).

As I observe this tie, I find it similar - if not identical - to the bi-color Kent Wang one; true or false? Can you comment please?

I think for your height you might need to go with a DFIH with this one. However, really depends on torso length and rise of your trousers.

I brought up length with Antonio in the Eidos thread as I was surprised by how long the tie is. His preferred knot is a double FIH so he has all Eidos ties cut long enough to tie that way. Fair enough.

On the similarity to KW. I don't own any of Kent's ties so can't say. The appearance is similar. This tie has a soft hand, so isn't crunchy in feel even if it has a nice texture. It is, of course, Italian made and materials are undoubtedly Italian sourced too. It's a lovely tie, if only with a pointed end!

Let me know if you want me to tie it with a DFIH and I can take a pic of knot and report on the difference in length of the blades.

Dear TP Hi,

In "Quintessential Knit Ties: Comprehensive Discussion & Appreciation" a fellow SFer under the code name "Sam H" posted that he owns three KW ties, one of which is the allegedly similar one; his post #13 in the 1st page directs you to KW's thread, and there in another post he posts the following link. If it doesn't work here, you may just visit it there. It is a really brief video and I believe that you would be able to see differences and/or similarities (it's a black/white tie, not a navy/white as yours). I quote:

Finally, thank you for the suggestion, your FIH produces a knot which is the maximum size that I would go; I reckon that a DFIH would produce a really big knot!

So, I tied the knit with a DFIH and got a nice tidy knot, no bigger than a SFIH. This leaves about the standard 2 or so inches between front and back blade (depends on how you tie it). I find this knot to be a pleasing size.

This tie will work well for you tall folks who have not been able to get a knit given that the length is too short on standard knits.

Or, for those of you who are my size, then this knit will still work with a DFIH which in my hands gives the same size knot as a SFIH (see above post for a description of how I tied the DFIH here).

Anyway: a great, high quality, Italian made knit from Eidos (if only it were pointed at the end!).
