Any updates to EG's top of the line?

Aportnoy, did you ever get your made-to-orders on which you specified a beveled waist? How did they turn out? What is EG's non-bespoke workshop capable of?

Z...I've have not gotten those orders yet. Saks is clearly late on this delivery. I also haven't heard a damn thing about Top Drawer being released.

But I soon will be sharing several new John Lobb acquisitions that have the bevelled waist.

Top Drawer, according to Old England, is already being made for Japanese clients and supposedly features many handmade touches. The salesperson told me that he had trained as a bottier and had seen new models made to Top Drawer standard which were very impressive. Of course, he may simply have been trying to sell me on it. The price in Paris was 1500 euros. It is supposedly available by special order, but I hesitate at a price like that.

PS: Portnoy, when we were kids you clearly were the kid who had the most Transformers.

Interesting. Sounds like a lot of cash though. I wonder how the finishing compares to G&G's and Lobb Prestige's RTW.

Steve Buscemi in "Billy Madison."

In all seriousness.. 1500 euros for non-bespoke shoes is asking quite a bit, isn't it?

For some of us, though we can't afford those EG's, we can still enjoy them.

What does Lobb prestige go for in Paris?

E 1500 is indeed a lot. Competing with the super-high end Italians. At that price, it ought to be quite a bit better than G&G.

In London, Lobb Prestiege go for 695 GBP for all models with the exception of the Vale, Chapel and Jermyn II monks, which go for 770 GBP. Less the VAT, that comes to $1112 and $1232 respectively.

New York prices all Prestiege at $1440 which with tax comes to $1565.

London rules!!

I actually don't like Lobb's RTW styles very much so I haven't checked them out. Armenak.fr would probably have prices though.

E 1500 is less than one-tenth a pair of priceless Lobb ex-skates...
